em watchdog timeout on UP, 6-stable
Updated my Athlon-xp 6-stable system last night, got an em watchdog
timeout for the first time a few hours later, during a fairly
high-traffic period. System is UP but does have device apic in
the config. Any chance this is the recent race condition?
Workaround? ifconfig em0 down, ifconfig em0 up seemed to cure it,
at least for the moment.
Thanks,
Barney Wolff

Samba checking for smb.conf changes
Been looking around for this. When does Samba determine when to check
for changes to the smb.conf file? Is there a certain amount of seconds set?

Problem logging in after upgrade to 4.8-Stable
I upgraded two 4.7 machines yesterday to 4.8-stable and now normal users can't
login (both at the console and ssh). Root logs in okay. I created a new
user and that works. However, the first server I upgraded to 4.8 hasn't had
the same problems. I changed my personal password as root on one of the
problem servers and then I was able to login. Did something change in the
password

Should I have to run make readme/index in ports after cvsup's?
/usr/ports/www/README.html went from some 200 lines to over 500 on a
`make readme' in that directory just now. I thought `cvsup -g -L 2
/etc/cvsup_ports' would update the README.html files too.
Should I be running `make readme' and/or `make index' (and/or anything
else) myself after cvsupdating ports?

Xorg unbuildable - where to get: x11-xcb?
Greetings,
A fresh install of 7 followed by a cvsup to 7.2-PRE on the 26th
results in an inability to build Xorg on the system. A cvsup only
an hour ago provides no solution.
An attempt at the following:
cd /usr/ports/x11/xorg-minimal
make
produces the following error:
...
checking pkg-config files for X11 are available... yes

Patch for boot-time USB hangs in 4.9-PRERELEASE
Could people who are experiencing boot-time hangs in 4.9-PRERELEASE
try the following patch to see if it helps? I've had one positive
report so far, but it would be helpful to get more feedback to
determine if this is the right fix to be committed.
The problem was that interrupts were getting unmasked too early in
the boot process, causing an interrupt storm that usually occurred
while USB

GENERIC kern compile error 4.8-STABLE
GENERIC Kernel build failure just after stable-cvsup and buildworld.
I have ensured that everything in /usr/obj was deleted before i began.
Btw. /usr/obj <-- is a symlink to /Disk1/usrobj, because /usr partition
was filled up.
I have installed these packages from ports.

This can be done using winbind and the associated NSS
module. I think it will compile on Solaris, but have
not tried it recently. See the HOWTO in the
Samba-HOWTO-Collection.pdf file on the docs page of samba.org.
Also see the winbindd(8) man page.

Rebuild of kernel 2.6.9-67.0.20.EL failure
Hello list.
I'm trying to rebuild the 2.6.9.67.0.20.EL kernel, but it fails even without
modifications.
How did I try it?
Created a (non-root) build environment (not a mock )
Installed the kernel.scr.rpm and did a
rpmbuild -ba --target=`uname -m` kernel-2.6.spec 2> prep-err.log | tee
prep-out.log
The build failed at the end:
