X flag in smbpasswd?
mksmbpasswd.sh does not create accounts with the X flag in the password
flags field. Does this X matter, and if so, what does it mean? It's not in
the man page.

Sporadic Bus error on mmap() on FUSE mount
Hi,
I need to use rrdtool on top of a Gluster FUSE mount, rrdtool uses
memory-mapped file IO extensively (I know I can recompile rrdtool with
mmap() disabled, but that is just a workaround). I have three FUSE mount
points on three different servers, on one of them the command "rrdtool
create test.rrd --start 920804400 DS:speed:COUNTER:600:U:U
RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:1:24" works fine, on

[LLVMdev] Proposal for -filetype=obj full big endian support
Proposal for ELF text and data big endian support for direct object generation
Unless I am mistaken, currently big endian support in the MC layer for ELF
direct object generation is limited to ELF headers and tables like relocations.
Text and data section contents are still generated as individual bytes.
It looks as if the effort was started, but never completed.
The proposal is to extend the

been successively disabling/enabling options and xlators, and I've found
that the problem is related to the cluster.nufa option. When NUFA
translator is disabled, rrdtool works fine on all mounts. When enabled
again, the problem shows up again.

Logwatch - malformed password entry(uid not number)
Hi All,
I've the following in the logs and am wondering why they are there.
I also keep getting emails from SAMBA log-deamon (or something like that).
[2003/05/19 15:24:29, 0] passdb/pdb_smbpasswd.c:getsmbfilepwent(364)
getsmbfilepwent: malformed password entry (uid not number)
It's not really serious (at least to me) but it's a cause for concern. Below
are the details

Can't find samba server after new NIC installed
...p address)
ETH0 was added to connect to another PC that acts as the backup server.
(dedicated connection)
Now, Samba won't come back up.. I can still ssh into the server and all.
Any ideas? I know that the wins needs up to 45mins for the announcement to
work.. but even using ip address on windows (as in
start->run->\\eth1-ip-add) does not work. (windows gives the error - No
Service is operating at the destination network endpoint on the remote
system)
I've added
interfaces = eth1
wins server = ipaddress of windows network wins server

[PATCH 1/2] drm/nouveau/disp/nv50-: force scaler for any non-default LVDS/eDP modes
Higher layers tend to add a lot of modes not actually in the EDID, such
as the standard DMT modes. Changing this would be extremely intrusive to
everyone, so just force the scaler more often. There are no practical
cases we're aware of where a LVDS/eDP panel has multiple resolutions
exposed, and i915 already does it this way.

[LLVMdev] Proposal for -filetype=obj full big endian support
Jim,
I see routines that are already available to do the endianizing, but the data and text section contents don't have sizing for the individual elements as far as I can see so that I can endianize them. That is the part I am trying to solve, not the bit twiddling algorithm.
Did I miss something?
Jack

ow to force samba to allow write specified filename to folder
Hello
I have directories named as the names of years eg. 2009 2010 etc.
And in this folders eg. 2009 folder there are scanned .tif files like
this:
10_09.tif
229_09.tif
3890_09.tif
3890_1_09.tif
etc.
I would like to samba check correct filenames eg. in folder 2010 there
shouldn't be any flies from xxxx_09.tif eg. 229_09.tif only 229_10.tif
(_10.tif and vice versa in 2009 there

[LLVMdev] Proposal for -filetype=obj full big endian support
Hi Jack,
Everything should be already using the sized Emit* routines directly rather than outputting individual bytes of larger entities piecemeal. Have you found that not to be the case?
The Emit* routines handle endianness for you, so you shouldn't have to do much beyond that. For example, here's the EmitInvValue() implementation that underlies things and does the endianness transform:

ow to have R automatically print traceback upon errors
Hi,
I wonder how to have R automatically print stack trace produced by
traceback upon errors during interactive uses. I tried the suggestions on
http://old.nabble.com/Automatically-execute-traceback-when-execution-of-script-causes-error--td22368483.html#a22368775
and used options(error = recover)
options(showErrorCalls = T)
It just produces an extra message like "recover called

Samba Shares and Win32 Viruses
Hi Collective users of Samba, (does has a nice ring to it eh?)
Recently I found a my samba server being infected by win32 viruses.
Though it does not affect the server in any way, I do find them to be
an annoyance.
I understand also that I can perform "veto" of files like *.exe in smb.conf
but find that to be a wee bit restrictive. There are some users who
stores valid executables in

[LLVMdev] Proposal for -filetype=obj full big endian support
Hi Jack,
I would have expected the Mips backend to be using these routines (or more likely something on top of them) to emit the contents of the data and text sections and thus have the bit-twiddling done by these routines. I take it that's not happening?
Basically, this should already work without any additional infrastructure. If it's not, something is broken and bypassing the

[PATCH v2 09/10] drm/nouveau: Handle frame-packing mode geometry and timing effects
* Frame-packing modes add an extra vtotal raster lines to each
frame above and beyond what the basic mode description calls for.
Account for this during scaler configuration (possibly a bit of a
hack), during CRTC configuration (clearly not a hack), and when
checking that a mode is vaild for a given connector (cribbed from
the i915 driver).
