MP3 Conversion
...s have the sound file in no other usable format. They have no choice. Since MP3 has legal issues, they may very well stand to benefit from such a conversion when there are no alternatives. No need to criticize them for being in this predicament. >>It's a very bad idea. A bit of an overstatement, perhaps. [LLVMdev] LLVM 2.2 Release Notes
...ing both MMX vectors and long double may be worth a mention, but it probably isn't going to bite very many people. (llvm does not insert EMMS everywhere it needs to, or from a different viewpoint, uses MMX when the user didn't tell it to.) Giving me credit for darwin x86-64 EH is an overstatement, I just made minor mods to existing EH code (Anton's I think). Looks good overall.

Hi All, The first draft of the llvm 2.2 release notes are now available: http://llvm.org/docs/ReleaseNotes.html The release is scheduled for Monday, so please take a look at them and send me your feedback, or (better yet) just commit fixes directly to the document in llvm/docs/ReleaseNotes.html. Given the OP problem statement (small business, part-time admin, newbie to mail servers), I do not think there is a better solution. A small server already costs 20 USD / month, running a mail server consumes a significant amount of resources, and as the OP menti...

Fish and 'must read' statistics books. My last word, promise!
...nimical to those of Fisher than Jimmie Savage and yet his last (posthumously published) paper was entitled 'On re-reading R A Fisher' (note: RE-reading) and it was very complimentary to his old adversary. Even for Jimmy the penny dropped, somewhat, in the end. [OK, there is still a bit of overstatement and irony in there, but you are on your own from here on in.] As far as 'must read' books for Statistics goes for me there are none, but my all-time favourite statistical author is definitely Sir David Cox. His writing is clear and lucid, his ideas are usually immensely powerful, percepti...

Help in R
I don?t know if my question is answerable, but it is worth a try. I have a data set that I am trying to analyze in R for a course and the instructions were to get a standard deviation which I already computed in R and use that number and change it to a biased standard deviation?.(I have the two equations and I understand the difference between the two and how the unbiased has the degree of

draft of Comment on UCLA tech report
You may recall that there was a discussion of a technical report from the statistical consulting group at UCLA. I have a draft of a comment on that report, which you can get from http://www.burns-stat.com/pages/Flotsam/uclaRcomment_draft1.pdf I'm interested in comments: corrections, additions, deletions. New ZFS Intent Log (ZIL) device available - Beta program now open!
The DDRdrive X1 OpenSolaris device driver is now complete, please join us in our first-ever ZFS Intent Log (ZIL) beta test program. A select number of X1s are available for loan, preferred candidates would have a validation background and/or a true passion for torturing new hardware/driver :-) We are singularly focused on the ZIL device market, so a test environment bound by synchronous writes

Otherwise clamscan just does a readdir, so the order is entirely FS-dependent, similarly with clamd which does a sort by inode. > > Looping in Edvin who wrote Clamscan. :) Thats an overstatement, although I wrote a fair amount of libclamav :) Best regards, --Edwin

I believe that if you explicitly use mmx intrinsics you have to insert emms yourself, and that the only other way to get mmx badness is through use of the gcc generic vector extension. If this is true, I think we should be ok. > Giving me credit for darwin x86-64 EH is an overstatement, I just made > minor mods to existing EH code (Anton's I think). Blackfin inline assembler and VisualDSP++ toolchain
Hi Jean-Marc I'm trying to integrate your speex codec on our custom Blackfin board. The board is not uCLinux compatible and there is no chance that it will ever be. I am using ADI-supplied VisualDSP++ IDE and corresponding toolchain. As long as I am compiling "C"-only version of the library everything is fine. VisualDSP++ produces working library. There is only one not so minor
