overfilled signature lines in documentation shell for methods
The documentation shells created by the utility functions for classes and methods
contain section "Methods". Due to a slight difference in the layout and the underlying Rd code,
function signatures are wrapped on the following line (if necessary) in the "methods" section in a class description (xxx-class.Rd)
but not in xxx.-methods.Rd. As a result long signatures may

Per-directory quotas
We are running Samba right now to provide user home directories to
Windows users. We are using basic user quotas on the /home partition to
limit disk usage.
But, soon we will be adding additional directories, user, and groups to
allow data sharing among 'workgroups'. We will still need to limit disk
usage, but doing this via the rather crude group quota system won't do.

pxelinux: Doing DHCP-Release?
Hi,
i am currently working on a project to install our windows-workstations
using PXE-Boot und unattended (http://unattended.sourceforge.net/).
All workstations load pxelinux and display a menu: Continue the bootchain
(= start Windows) or reinstall the Workstation.
The windows-workstations have static IPs (this can not be changes that
easy, we are talking about more then 5000 Workstations....)

Problem with plotting size/location on variation of star/segment plot
Dear R gurus,
I'm running into a problem with some modified segment plots I've coded
using stars(). What I am trying to do is superimpose two series of data
along with radial axes markers in a 2x2 graphics frame. This is working
fine now, except for the hitch: my plots overfill the frame and are not
centered within it (on my runs they always end up looking like they've
been budged

Conventions: Use of globals and main functions
I appreciate the well-thought-out comments.
To your first point, I am not sure what "glattering" means precisely (a Google search revealed nothing useful), but I assume it means something to the effect of overfilling the main namespace with too many names. Per Norm Matloff's counterpoint in The Art of R Programming regarding this issue, this is mostly avoided by well-defined,

Cannot mount with newer samba
At my nt-server, the c-drive was overfilled. After that I could not mount it
from redhat7.3 samba 2.2.3. The following was said.
tdb((null)): tdb_open_ex: could not open file
/var/cache/samba/unexpected.tdb: No such file or directory
1541: Connection to <servername> failed
SMB connection failed
I tried opgrading to samba 2.2.5, and I have also opgraded to redhat8.0. Now

QoS in Linux
Hello All, I am interested in QoS provided by Linux, when I looked into IP
header I came accross ToS field, also while going more into detail about
QoS I found that the QoS based on ToS is serviced thru DiffServ which in
turn gives more priority to packets with higher value is ToS field, but I
am not able to understand when we finally call dev->hard_start_xmit

ogg123 streaming bug - cont.
Dear list,
a few weeks ago there was a short thread about ogg123 starting to
stutter (http://www.xiph.org/archives/vorbis/200403/0043.html) and
making static noise after streaming music for more than 3.5 hours. I
have a similar problem; i used ices-2.0 to stream a playlist, and after
a couple of hours (sometimes just one hour, sometimes 5 to 8 hours) i
get noise or stutter.
Now one thing i

Conventions: Use of globals and main functions
The point is, that there are several possible problems.
But.
One the one hand they are not really problematic in my opinion (I do not
care if my function has potential access to objects outside of its
environment because this access is read-only at worst and it's not common
practice to use this potential anyways).
On the other hand I am not sure what the main()-idiom would actually add to

strange quota behaviour with dovecot 1.1.7
Hello!
I?m running dovecot 1.1.7 (which is the most recent binary of openSuSE 11.1 repository) with Postfix, MySQL and Postfixadmin.
Now I?m trying for some days to get quota working, but I get some strange behaviour and I was not yet able to figure out where the error in my configuration is.
Quota information is inserted by postfixadmin into a MySQL database. It seems that dovecot is reading

Sieve not exists
I thought this was working as intended, but I have recently been getting some random messages put into this mailbox that definitely have list-ip headers (including some messages from this list) and that do not have multiple addresses. I believe this started happening on 20200922, which would hav been when I applied the most recent update to dovecot, as that is when the listCC box seemed to

lvm cache + qemu-kvm stops working after about 20GB of writes
Hello,
I would really appreciate some help/guidance with this problem. First of
all sorry for the long message. I would file a bug, but do not know if
it is my fault, dm-cache, qemu or (probably) a combination of both. And
i can imagine some of you have this setup up and running without
problems (or maybe you think it works, just like i did, but it does not):

[RFC] Using Intel MPX to harden SafeStack
Hi,
I previously posted about using 32-bit X86 segmentation to harden SafeStack: http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/llvm-dev/2016-May/100346.html That involves lowering the limits of the DS and ES segments that are used for ordinary data accesses while leaving the limit for SS, the stack segment, set to its maximum value. The safe stacks were clustered above the limits of DS and ES. Thus, by
