agi RECORD FILE with offset
...nction and am
finding two distinct problems with the resulting wav file when using a
non zero sample offset. Specifically, I call the function with a zero
offset and a given filename (the "original" recording), and then later
call it with the same filename and a non-zero offset (the "overdub").
When I do this, I experience the following:
* The file has a strange signal superimposed on top of the normal
recorded sound signal, from exactly the offset sample forward. In
Audacity it looks like a perfect sawtooth wave, however one made up of
distinct sharp samples. Needless to say, th...

controlling recording
...great by using AGI to play
prompts, get input and record files. However one of our customers has
asked for some pretty advanced functionality, specifically the ability
to:
* stop in the middle of recording (so far so good, escape character)
* fast forward/rewind the recording as it is so far (!)
* overdub (i.e. rerecord) starting from a desired point in the
existing sound file (!!!)
So, it's pretty clear that AGI's "RECORD FILE" function as it stands
is not going to cut it, so I'm assuming that do anything like this

low latency kernel?
Someone recently posted on the x2go list that he had a problem with
jerky videos playing remotely on Ubuntu, but solved it by installing a
low latency kernel that was available as an alternative. That made me
curious as to whether CentOS has an equivalent - or a way to build
something similar.

Recording piano and voice
...un one channel straight from the piano's audio output and one
channel through a mic preamp hooked to you microphone, with the output
hooked to the other line input channel. Now, if you want to do stereo on
the voice and piano, you'll either need a four channel card or you'll
need to overdub, which Audacity among other programs can do. Ardour and
Mixbus can do latency compensation for overdubs, but I don't know if
Audacity can or not.
A Zoom H4N works well for this wort of thing, either doing its own
recording or being a USB-connected soundcard, which is supposed to work

Recording piano and voice
The last time I wanted to record a voice announcement on my computer was a few years back, and as I recall I hooked up my Microsoft Lifechat headset and used Audacity to do the recording.
Now I want to record a "recitation", which consists of me playing my piano and talking over it.
I have a Casio CDP-230 digital piano but I've never tried hooking it up to my computer and making a

Are there repositories which will help a centos die-hard nerd to run
64 studio like workstation (of course bomus will be to pointers to HPC
with desktops for rendering and the such)?
