Question about "HB" flag and a "battery.charge.high" name
...that > 14V for a 12V system is probably fair,
although it really needs to be temperature compensated. That's an alert
for charging system failure, though.
I would not call it HB, though because that makes it sound parallel to
LB, which is about believed remaining capacity, not detection of
overcharging failure. It is not parallel.
the long name is
charging system failure - overcharging
and I am reluctant to abbreviate it.

Question about "HB" flag and a "battery.charge.high" name
Hello all,
During discussion at
https://github.com/networkupstools/nut/pull/2430#discussion_r1592317940 I
found that while `nut-names.txt` documents the `battery.charge.low` as the
"Remaining battery level when UPS switches to LB (percent)", there is no
counterpart as `battery.charge.high`. First I thought one could be just
added... but for that matter, what could one logically mean -

call barring
Hello,
I'm willing to implement call barring for incoming and outgoing calls and I would like to discuss it with the list first, since I think It can't be implemented in a 'natural way' and I will need to use agi scripting - database.
Process would be:
1. incoming calls
priority 1, call incoming.agi, select all the blocked cli's for the called user, if caller is on

Well, given that a "battery.charge.high" is not a name yet defined or used,
hands are untied - and it does seem like a sufficiently high-level concept
to me even if no devices would emit that information and only some users
set it for synthetic logic. Namely, I'm thinking ab...

Thanks for the response Gene!
I've ordered a replacement unit.

Re: [nut-Patches][303751] Checking UPS Temperature
One disadvantage of handling it through a script is that is will not
be done by default. Most users probably don't know about the problem
of burning batteries, as it is not very common.
A potential problem with Eric Wilde's patch is that it is not general
enough; some UPS models have an boolean OVERHEAT flag although they
don't report the actual temperature. So the UPSOVERTEMP

How to lower float charge voltage of an APC Smart UPS - corrected
My first posting had typos. Here is the corrected version:
You can lower the float charge voltage that APC Smart UPS units such as
SU1000NET or SU700NET supply to the battery. This is important to prevent
overcharging when when substituting Lead Acid Deep Cycle batteries for
the usual sealed maintenance free batteries provided. Instructions:
1) Only do this if you're fully trained and qualified to work on a Lead Acid
powered UPS. These units contain lethal voltages and currents and can leak
hydrogen gass, e...

Wrong parsing in gen-usbhid-subdriver ?
Hi,
I'm trying to generate a skeleton driver with usbhid-ups and
gen-usbhid-subdriver but the output seems to be incorrect. Same
behavior with stable 2.6.5, so I guess there is something wrong with
data coming out of device.
I attached the output of usbhid-ups and gen-usbhid-subdriver from the commands:
drivers/usbhid-ups -DD -u root -x explore -x vendorid=04d8 -a openups

Configuration file format changes
After tomorrow's 0.99.8 release I think it's time for a new config file
format. It could be made backwards compatibile with the old format, but
there would be new tree-like categories. I was thinking something like
this:
# global settings
protocols = imap
# "foo.server.org" is just descriptive name
# settings inside server { .. } will override global ones.

Calls running forever / CDRs inaccurate
...epancy?
In theory, if I set TIMEOUT(absolute) to maybe 2 hours and 2 minutes, I
could find and delete those ghost calls in the CDRs at the end of the
month, before sending the invoice to the customer, but that's not a good
solution either (because losing money). But maybe still better than
overcharging the customer thousands of minutes?! :)
This behavior happens every day on approx. 5-200 calls. (At the end of a
day I could have 200 hanging/ghost calls).
Help! :)
Lastly, a "core show channel" on a hanging call, obfuscated:
[root at voip asterisk]# asterisk -rx 'core show channe...

RE: Asterisk at home with Broadvoice?
As a general rule of thumb it would be good to make the distinction
between 'Credit Card' and 'Debit Card' too.
If possible, never ever use a debit card for online purchases.
It taps directly into your account and removes REAL money.
Credit cards are 'virtual' money in that they are credit and your cash
in account remains untouched.
That way if your credit card account

Pay rates for Rails developers
Does anyone have an idea of the rates being charged by Rails developers
(or salaries for FTEs)?
I''m curious to see whether rates will become comparable to those paid to
more experienced Java/.NET developer types, or if rates will be lowered
by the free/open source mentality, and the possible perception that
Rails makes Web development "easy."
Sometimes rates are more

Logic problem in NUT with upscode2 driver
Hi All,
I have what is probably a 12 year old (or older) Compaq R3000 UPS
plugged into a FreeBSD 8 system running NUT version 2.6.5
This UPS contains a total of 16 batteries in 2 banks of 8,
each battery is 6 volts and the bank produces 50 volts.
The UPS monitors battery voltage and the battery charger in
the UPS works like this. For about 2 days it will apply a
charge/float/topping

Freelance Rate
Hi,
Not sure where to address this question ... but I guess this is a good
start. I am a freelance Rails developer - and have been developing Rails
apps professionally for about a year now. I just want to get an idea of
what you other freelancers charge yourselves out at. I have been
charging the equivalent of about $28/hour, but get a sense that I
could/should charge a whole lot more. I am

Should I choose DSL @ 1.5 or a full T1?
I'm looking to expand my bandwidth for my Asterisk PBX.
Why should I choose a T1 over DSL for my asterisk server?
I found someone offering T1's for $290 a month + Loops or 3 Meg for $561 a month + Loops. Is this a good deal?
Thanks
Bart
