explorer.exe crashes on security tab access
I've noticed myself similiar issue.
Windows 10 (v 1803) - window with security tab open crashes on certain
files (yes, just the window, not whole OS). Just before crash i see
unresolved SID which looks like nothing I know (doesn't look like domain
SID - maybe local user SID from samba member server?). All files that
cause this issue are from any of the samba servers.
Same files I can

domain quota in sql
Hi,
I have a problem with setting up quota usage tracking for domains.
Problem is, that domain quota is always based on only one user in
domain, the last one on whom behalf any operation was performed.
To recreate this situation, one has only to perform:
doveadm quota recalc -u USER
on a user, and the domain quota takes the value of this user quota.
Have anyone a clue what could cause this

Win7 vs. Win10 GPO Editing
Hi,
I have a problem with GPO editing.
I have some GPO first created with RSAT and GPO editor on Win 7 x64.
I have modified recently this object with RSAT and GPO editor on Win 10 x64
.
If I try to edit the GPO back to Win7 I got the following error (in
french):
La ressource ? $(string.SiteDiscoveryEnableWMI) ? r?f?renc?e dans

ntlm_auth with freeradius
Hey,
In samba 4.5.0 update notes it states:
/NTLMv1 authentication disabled by default
----------------------------------------- In order to improve security
we have changed the default value for the "ntlm auth" option from "yes"
to "no". This may have impact on very old clients which doesn't support
NTLMv2 yet. The primary user of NTLMv1 is MSCHAPv2 for

samba 4 ad member - idmap = ad for machine accounts
It's centos 7, no local users except root, all system users have UID <100,
and system is used ONLY for samba, as file server for windows machines, and
never will never be used for anythin else, that's why I said it works for
me.
I read wiki thoroughly, so I know about RID drawbacks, that's why I wanted
to get idmap - AD to work not just for "users" (which works

Win7 vs. Win10 GPO Editing
Hi,
My guess is this:
RSAT reads policy definitions either from central store (first) or from
local (if first not found). It might be the case, that one of the
policies templates was changed between windows 7 and windows 10 and now
windows 7 runs into errors. Your error shows that it's trying to look
for policy definition in the local store (c:\windows\PolicyDefinitions).
You can google

explorer.exe crashes on security tab access
As I said, I haven't got time to look at what's really happening, just
that sometimes windows 10 + some file = security tab just closes/crashes
instantly and clearly there is a long SID that's not like anything I
recognize, might be well known SID (not well known enough though I'd
say, as it's unresolved ;) ). I'm not sure if my experiences are related
to those of OP,

Avoiding uid conflicts between rfc2307 user/groups and computers
Hello,
I understand the OP, I was asking some time ago similar question, but it
was in relation to samba domain member. I couldn't get backend: ad to
work for machine accounts, so i switched to idmap: rid and it solved
everything. I tried manually adding UID and GID to Domain Computer group
and to machine accounts, but it didn't seem to work properly, so I gave
up especially that RID

explorer.exe crashes on security tab access
By primary group I mean the group that is set by chgrp. that is the group
returned after the pound key (#) from getfacl. In other words the Unix
group and not the one managed by ACLs.

Failed to find DC in keytab, gpupdate fails
Hi,
you're right about kvno.
kvno dc gives me:
dc at DOMAIN.NET.PL: kvno = 1
I'm pretty sure I didn't change dc$ password nor keytab wasn't recreated (the file is from 2015).
I've checked other DCs.
It looks like two of them with CentOS 7 have kvno = 2, and one with CentOS 6 has also v 1.
DCs on CentOS 7 are pretty new, with samba version 4.7.4 from the scratch. Main DC

what is the output of "kvno dc.domain.net.pl"? There seems to be
mismatch kvno of the secrets keytab, and what is client expecting (kvno
2). Kvno increments by 1 for every password change. Was there by any
chance password change for the dc$ account and keytab was not recreated?
If You made some upgrades, maybe during process You for example rejoined
the domain (that would set new

Hi,
I suggest you post this to samba at list.samba.org that more for these questions.
Try this setting in resolv.conf
search domain.net.pl
nameserver 10.1.10.11 # IP of DC itself.
#nameserver # and extra nameserver that has access to the DC dns info. (a second dc maybe)
nameserver 8.8.8.8 # IP of forwarder in SMB.conf as backup for internet access.

kerberos issue (SPN not found) with windows Hyper-V ( samba 4.5.3 AD)
I made some progress with the issue, but didn't solve it completely
It's basically a kind of bug (i'm not sure if it's on kerberos side or
samba, I think samba is the culprit here (?).
Microsoft uses kind of weird SPN for Hyper-V. Weird as there are
"spaces" in the string - which is kind of unique as far as SPN's go,
usually SPN form a complete string.
So I kind
