copy Windows registry
Hi l've managed to fly in FS9 by simply mounting my Win partition. Now a lot of addons have registry entries so I wonder if I could bypass all this installation orgy somehow? Anyone tried to copy the original Windows registry to .wine? Also some paths would need adjustments? Thanks

what is wine good for?
...ter years doing my best to find some use for it i give up now and for ever. the very idea looks great, but windows apis will be always one mile ahead of you. so insist with this pointless exercise of patience if you please , my attempts to do something useful with wine that regularly end up in an orgy of horrible swears directed to all the known and unknown gods in front of a terminal pounded with stubs are over forever. goodbye. i dont feel like saying you thanks because your work is only a total, continuous loss of time and processor cycles and all for some lousy windows game. ha.

smbd reads entire directory when creating files?
...ws, it churns more and more. I'm sure most of it is in cache but the data still has to be moved around in memory. I know this is not necessary for writing/copying files with unix semantics, but I wonder if the case-fiddling or any other Windows imitative behavior is making this getdents64 orgy necessary. Is there any way to disable it? I was going to post a bit of the strace output but it is extremely long and (to my eyes, anyway) not very interesting. I can supply it to anyone who is interested in seeing it. Any suggestions appreciated. I also note that while using smbclient in...

What is the possibility to use the Cortex-M4 DSP instructions to fully optimize the OPUS code? Could we use the ARM CMSIS DSP library for this optimization? Hi All, Cortex-M4 is a single issue CPU whereas A8 is dual issue so this is the main reason you are seeing a slow-down, use of NEON I would say is secondary, certainly for CELT. We (ESPICO) have done optimisation work on OPUS v1.1 and have ARM implementations about twice the speed of the 'off the shelf' version. Please contact me directly if you want to discuss further.
