I had to set my CPU type to opteron_g3 instead of opteron_g5 for some
machines on an AMD server.

Cannot find suitable CPU model for given data
...1842] DEBUG (cli:248) Domain
installation does not appear to have been successful.
svm and svm_lock are present in /proc/cpuinfo, in the initial output of
virt-install with --debug, it says it will use the proper cpu:
<cpu mode="custom" match="exact">
<model>Opteron_G3</model>
</cpu>
I've tried using --cpu host, --cpu best, --cpu Opteron_G3, all fail with
the same error. Anyone know what I can do here? I'd like to stick with KVM,
but maybe Xen would work? I'm not sure if this error is coming from
libvirt, or KVM itself.
Thanks!

I have tried copying the cpu options (Opteron_G3) in the host cpu
configuration and setting the svm flag to either "model", "required" or
"force" to no avail:

Latest C6 kernel (2.6.32-696.30.1.el6) Panic on AMD processor on C7 KVM Host
...sses? a kernel panic if you have a CentOS 7
KVM/QEMU/Libvirt host server running CentOS 6 VMs on an AMD processor
machine.
If you get this kernel panic:
PANIC: early exception 0d rip 10:ffffffff810462b6 error 0 cr2 0
The fix is to change the CentOS 6 VM CPU Type from Opteron_G5 (the default) to Opteron_G3.
This was impacting me starting C6 VMs on a C7 host, so I thought I would post the fix to the list.

Panic with EL7 KVM guest on EL6 host on AMD server with latest kernel
Hi,
I have AMD servers running CentOS 6.10 as KVM host and on it guests
running CentOS 7.5.
Since the latest kernel update on CentOS 6.10,
kernel-2.6.32-754.2.1.el6.x86_64, I can't boot the CentOS 7.5 guests with
kernel-3.10.0-862.6.3.el7.x86_64 anymore.
Reverting CentOS 6.10 host to kernel-2.6.32-754.el6.x86_64 fixes the problem.
Screendump of the panic is attached, not very helpful I
