can't access samba share from xp
Hello,
I am running slackware 9 and I have also updated samba to version 2.2.8a
from the slackware security update. I can access my xp box with no
problems from my linux box but I cannot access my linux box from my xp
box. I have been on several forums and IRC channels and no one seems to
have much insight into my problem, someone recommended trying to post my
problem here.
I have gotten

Redhat firewall problem...
I've just tried setting up a Shrike (9) version of Redhat. Using the
medium settings of lokkit, then adding manually accept commands for
ports 137/udp 138/udp, 139/tcp and 445/tcp, I thought I should have been
ready to go.
This isn't the case, however. I know it's not the smb.conf settup
because when I kill iptables samba works.
When iptables IS running however, it will respond

In that case, can I suggest that someone should update the text in the very last table cell of http://flac.sourceforge.net/format.html - it currently gives false information!
All the best,

How to iterate over an array? (with a counter)
....2 = ARRAYVALUE2
(where ARRAYVALUEn is replaced by the value, and the foo.n is
incremented for each value)
The puppet templates support iteration, but I don''t see how to also
increment a counter to get the behaviour above? Is this possible?
Thanks.

Rice coding parameter
...I guessed, and tried adding one before using the parameter (i.e. assuming the range was really 1 to 16), and that didn't fix it.
How should I interpret those four little bits?
Once again, any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks

Rice coding parameter
...t;1)+1) : (q>>1) );
if 'q' is the number of zeroes found before bumping into a 1. Is this a
standard component of Rice coding, or is it developed for FLAC? I didn't
read about it when I read up on Rice coding.
Thanks

Setting up VC6 to build VP3 source
All the notes you mention for VC are in vp32_build.html in the release, but thanks for reiterating.
Last time I built for Mac I believe I did the os9 version in CW6 and the OsX version in CW8, but I can't think why they shouldn't both compile in CW8.

Problem of accessing Redhat 7.3 from Win2K.
Hi there,
I am new to samba server. I just installed the samba suite (samba, samba-common, samba-client) for Redhat 7.3. After started samba server, I found there is no way for me to access the Redhat machine from Win2K. From the Win2K machine, I can see the linux machine name under folder 'My network places' , but I always get the error message " \\machine_name is not accessible.

Limiting bandwidth to around max. 8k per second - possible? UPDATE
Ok, we got it working with 176x144 resolution.
The following string produced an image that was not falling behind too
much for too long - basically a little when it was getting TONS of
movement, and then catching up fast.
"65 58 110 0 1 1 90 8 120 1 1 "
Now, we need to get this working on a 320x240 resolution, too (as sadly
VP3 does not support 160x120. Seems to be a little senseless,

offtopic: Solr compatible IMAP client
...that work well with IMAP
searches rather than doing their own searches on local copies of mails?
I've had a look at Thunderbird and you can use IMAP search, buy you have
to manually select it from an advanced search dialogue and it seems you
cannot make this the default behaviour. I also tried OperaMail but it
doesn't appear to work at all (only header is searchable without
downloading local copies). I'm pretty sure Outlook will only use its own
search engine on its local copy of data.
thanks a lot, Andy.

trouble with reading data from excel
I have been trying to open data that I have saved in an excel spread sheet. I saved it as a csv. Then I tried using the read.csv command. However, everytime I do this--
diseasedat<-read.csv("M:/sloan/R/disease/disease.csv", sep=, header = TRUE, fill= TRUE)--
I get an error message:
Error in file(file, "r") : unable to open connection
