SER/OpenSER, I Finally Get It.............General Observation
...ion was
laid, I loaded the dispatcher module in SER and with a bit of trial and
error with the config file, had load balancing fired up across 4 Asterisk
servers. Not exactly what I was looking for, SER has random load balancing,
so the distribution across the cluster varied widely.
I checked out OpenSER (a SER fork), which has a newer dispatcher module,
incorporating a round-robin load balancer and skip-to-the-next-server
fail-over mechanism. This actually performed more to my liking. A couple
of little bugs, the last entry in the dispatcher.list is skipped over for
some reason and the first ent...

OpenSer/Asterisk PBX solution
We have been working a OpenSer/Asterisk solution to replace our Avaya
PBXs.The OpenSer is to provide scalability and the Asterisk to provide
rich features.I know this has been many times for calling card platforms
but I'm not sure if anyone has a good scalable solution they are using on
their virtual PBX or in a CPE PBX envi...

SER, OpenSER, Kamailio, OpenSIPS -- what are you using?
One of the above is frequently used to front-end Asterisk.
I used OpenSER to front-end a farm of Asterisk servers and was very happy
with it. The ability to take a box out of service or to route a specific
DNIS to a box for testing rocks.
Since OpenSER has died (I don't care about the
politics/personalities/trademarks), Kamailio and OpenSIPS have risen from
the...

OPENSER / SER and Asterisk
While reading about how to maximize capabilities in asterisk i have
read about SER and OpenSER.
The sites do not explain to newbies (maybe that's on purpose) what are
the benefits of using those products tied with asterisk (or is SER an
asterisk replacement??)
Can someone give me an idea of what's the usage for open(ser) and asterisk?
is it for scalability?
should I run it in the s...

Simple CDRs w/Asterisk/OpenSER.
Suggestions on how to use Asterisk to collect CDRs from a OpenSER-based
proxy / call routing setup? I need to get simple CDRs; not for detailed
settlement/rating, but just for reconciliation with an ultimate TDM
carrier just to make sure we only get billed for what we're actually
using.
I'd use the often-heralded approach of dumping a call from OpenS...

SIP to IAX?
Hi all!
I am looking for some software that would work as a proxy between a SIP
device (SIP phones and ATA boxes) and the Asterisk system running IAX. The
reason is that I can only get IAX trow the firewalls, and can't change the
settings.
One solution I am using are getting several Asterisk system communicate trow
IAX bout in this case would I rater have every persons computer act as a
proxy

Sticky Problem SER/Asterisk
Trying to find a solution to a sticky problem here.
We have 3 OpenSER systems. Phones register with the OpenSER systems, and after they authenticate the user, pass the registration info using OpenSER's send() command to all Asterisk boxes sitting behind them. Each asterisk system then knows about every phone.
For this to work, I had to turn off authentication in...

Asterisk is not adding Via field
Hi,
I am trying to integrate asterisk with openser for a simple call. I
am facing some issues with Asterisk. Below is the explanation:
I have a UA1 sending invite to UA2 through Openser and Asterisk
with the below sequence.
Sequence is UA1->OpenSER->Asterisk->Openser->UA2

Forking using Openser And Asterisk
Hi All,
I am stuck with an issue in the Openser+Asterisk Forking.
In this solution we are using Openser as the Registrar. Hence it will
store all the contact bindings along with the q values for a given user,
say ua1. The current setup is such that the INVITEs are sent to Asterisk
by Openser and Asterisk sends out the INVITE.
Now if ua1 is...

new way of asterisk and kamailio (openser) realtime integration
Hello,
I put together a new tutorial about asterisk realtime integration with
kamailio (openser). This time the database used is the one of asterisk,
also call routing logic is controlled by asterisk, here is the link:
http://kb.asipto.com/asterisk:realtime:kamailio-3.0.x-asterisk-1.6.2-astdb
Practically is an easier way to scale starting from existing asterisk
installations.

Asterisk with or without OpenSER
Hello,
I am running a small installation of asterisk and looking for future
expansion of it to handle thousands of users. From what I read I see that
usually large installation place OpenSER (or similar solution) in front of
Asterisk in order to provide high call rate because "OpenSER does only
signalling while Asterisk does all". My question is: If Asterisk also does
only signalling (i.e. the voice traffic goes directly between the phones and
not via asterisk) is it still th...

IAX/SIP and openser problem. IAX bug?
Hello.
I am in a strange situation. I have two asterisk. Asterisk "A" makes a
call for asterisk "B" by IAX. Asterisk "B" recives the call and delivers
it to Openser by SIP. The problem is openser printing this in the screen:
ERROR: parse_to : unexpected char ["] in status 5: <<"David" <sip:>> .
ERROR:parse_from_header: bad from header
ERROR: new_t: no valid From in INVITE
ERROR: t_newtran: new_t failed

asterisk not sending ACK after reinvite
Hi,
I am faced with this dilema of asterisk not sending an ACK after it receives
200 OK from OpenSER (which is a response to a reinvite request sent by
asterisk. Here is my setup
Carrier<->OpenSER<->Asterisk1<->Asterisk2
A user is connected with Asterisk1 (through the carrier and OpenSER). On
certain dtmf events the call is forwarded to Asterisk2 using the Dial
command. Canrei...
