Storage Recommendations
Hello, We are going to buy some NFS storage for 6-8 VMs on a single host, but want to expand to a second host. What storage recommendations would you give if you have between 2000 and 5000 USD? How about nexenta? what hardware would you use? any vendor? Experiences with openfiler and opennas? Thanks for the responses. Rate Engine Compile Error
I've tried to compile rate-engine 0.5.2 on Fedora Core 1, Redhat 9 and OpenNA Linux 1.0 and all give me an "Error 1" after typing "make" but with no real reason given. Just a few standard/non-critical warning messages, and then suddenly "Error 1" Anybody successfully compile Rate Engine? The least cost routing module for Asterisk? Thanks in advance.

Open Source NAS/NFS solution
Hi Has anyone got any ideas on a nfs/nas appliance that i can install on x86 hardware with a few JBOD shelves attached to it. I would like an appliance like install and based on CentOS would be great. I really like the look of www.openfiler.com but it seems to be only in RC release stage so i don't think the 'boss' would like that idea. thanks

What project should I use ?
I am going to list my current plans for rebuilding a Law Firm?s network. I hope that someone will be able to tell me which project (samba or samba-tng) would be a better choice, or if staying with MS is the only choice. If my plan could be changed for the better, input would be greatly appreciated: A lot of this information is useless for my questions, but I am throwing it in anyway. --------

settings up cheap a NAS / SAN server, is it possible?
Hi all I want to look at setting up a simple / cheap SAN / NAS server using normal PIV motherboard, 2GB (or even more) RAM, Core 2 Duo CPU (probably a Intel 6700 / 6750 / 6800) & some SATA HDD's (4 or 6x 320GB - 750GB). My budget is limited, so I can't afford a pre-built NAS device. Can this be done with CentOS? I've been looking FreeNAS (which is built on FreeBSD), and it

How Samba let us down
Before you read this, I want to state (for reasons listed below) that I don't expect an answer (advice is welcomed, but please read this email carefully before answering). I'm sharing this with the community with the hope that better software results from our sad experience... BACKGROUND I've been using NT for 4 years, Netware and Linux for 3 years, and Samba for almost 2. I work
