Fixing ogg vorbis corruption caused by bad metadata
...pted.
Hopefully at some point the vorbis data in the file becomes valid.
Perhaps we just need to know the original encoding settings to create
a new file with valid codebooks and splice them together: oggz-dump -r
should be ok for that, just take the first 3 packets of the new file,
and packets 17 onwards (or 100 onwards) of the original file ...

Release 3.12: Scope and calendar!
...me top reminders for the 3.12 release:
1) When 3.12 is released 3.8 will be EOL'd, hence users are encouraged
to prepare for the same as per the calendar posted here.
2) 3.12 is a long term maintenance (LTM) release, and potentially the
last in the 3.x line of Gluster!
3) From this release onward, the feature freeze date is moved ~45 days
in advance, before the release. Hence, for this one release you will
have lesser time to get your features into the release.
Release calendar:
- Feature freeze, or branching date: July 17th, 2017
- All feature post this date need exceptions granted...

Is FSCTL_VALIDATE_NEGOTIATE_INFO mandatory in samba-4.4 & onwards
Hello,
I was reading about secure Dialect negotiation to prevent man-in-middle
to downgrade dialects & capabilities.
_https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/openspecification/2012/06/28/smb3-secure-dialect-negotiation/_
I wanted to ask, is there any option to disable SMB2 to do dialect
renegotiation as present in Windows8 clients, as they can control using
RequireSecureNegotiate.

no Xen packages for i386
Hi there,
I just saw this morning after mistakenly installing the -amd64 packages
on a 32bit machine, that the i386 packages had disappeared from debian
from jessie onwards.
I was wondering about the reason for this disappearance. Is it because
upstream cut off support for 32 bit systems? I scratched really fast on
the bug reports and couldn't see one that talked about this.

Samba 3.0.28a onwards "allow trusted domains" has no effect?
Hi,
I've noticed a discrepancy between Samba Version 3.0.28a and Version
3.0.24 in relation to Winbind rid idmap and trusted domains behaviour.
I have an environment with 2 domains linked via a trust, an Active
Directory domain and an NT4 domain. On 3.0.24 the rid backend seems to
work fine, but on 3.0.28a it shows OTHERDOMAIN\domain admins instead of
the primary domain's domain

vfs_fruit & resource forks on macOS
From version 4.10.6 onwards folder icons are not working anymore on macOS. I can see the "._Icon?? file written on disk but seems like Samba isn?t reading it back and presenting it to the client. Is there a change or new setting that is needed on more recent versions, or have I hit a bug? I noticed 4.10.6 had some work...

fixed and random effects in lme
Hi All,
I would like to ask a question on fixed and random effecti in lme. I am
fiddlying around Mick Crawley dataset "rats" :
http://www.bio.ic.ac.uk/research/mjcraw/statcomp/data/
The advantage is that most work is already done in Crawley's book (page 361
onwards) so I can check what I am doing.
I am tryg to reproduce the nested analysis on page 368:
model<-aov(Glycogen~Treatment/Rat/Liver + Error(Treatment/Rat/Liver), rats)
using lme.
The code:
model1<- lme(Glycogen~Treatment, random = ~1|Rat/Liver, data=rats)
VarCorr(model1)

synchronizing part of a file
Hi all,
I would like to synchronize a part of the source file with a part of the
destination file. In detail I would like to
- synchronize a file on a remote host from line "n" onwards with the
file content on the local host starting with line "n" in the file.
- the firs "n" lines of the files on the local and remote host should
not be changed.
My questions are:
1) Is it possible to do this with rsync?
2) Has anyone done that before?
3) How ca...

trunk to trunk forwarding
Hi all,
Has anyone implemented trunk to trunk forwarding with an asterisk PBX.
For the purpose I have in mind its quite important that once the call
has been sent onwards to the new desination the lines into the PBX are
no longer held.
If anyone has UK-specific experience of getting this up and running that
would be incredibly useful!

R and reading matlab compressed files
Is there any way to read these files (standard .mat files, created by
matlab version 7 onwards are compressed)? I know that R.matlab doesn't
read them (it even says in the file MatlabServer.m "Matlab v7 saves
compressed files, which is not recognized by R.matlab's readMat()" (lines
47-8)).
I know I should be able to make R call Matlab and transfer data (not that
