smbclient using SMB2+ against NetApp OnTap 8.2 anyone ?
...can't parse. Does anyone have access to a NetApp 8.2 box who knows how to get good debug info out of the thing ? I'll log a bug and upload successful connect from Win7 and a fail connection trace from 4.2.0 smbclient so we can track this, but I'm a bit stymied without good errors from OnTap. Jeremy.

Mapping inode numbers to file names
Let''s suppose you rename a file or directory. /tank/widgets/a/rel2049_773.13-4/somefile.txt Becomes /tank/widgets/b/foogoo_release_1.9/README Let''s suppose you are now working on widget B, and you want to look at the past zfs snapshot of README, but you don''t remember where it came from. That is, you don''t know the previous name or location where that

OT: What's wrong with RAID5
Hi all, Sorry for the OT. I've got an IBM N3300-A10 NAS. It runs Data Ontap 7.2.5.1. The problem is, from the docs it says that it only supports either RAID-DP or RAID4. What I want to achieve is Max Storage Capacity, so I change it from RAID-DP to RAID4, but with RAID4, the maximum disk in a RAID Group decrease from 14 to 7. In the end, either using RAID-DP or RAID4, the...

Samba compatibility with NetAPP filers.
We are running scripts using smbclient to get some data of NetAPP filer and we run into the output below. After doing some digging, I found that there is a incompatibility between NetAPP Data ONTAP OS and samba. Is this still the case or there is a fix for it. We are running 3.0.10 Any ideas would be great George Client started (version 3.0.10). Connecting to 169.177.18.109 at port 445 session request ok Serverzone is 14400 Doing spnego session setup (blob length=89) got OID=1 2 840 48...

pxelinux 4.03 taking forever to find .../pxelinux.cfg/default
Hi All, It appears the NetApp OnTap tftp server we were using doesn't implement the "OpCode: Error Code (5); Error Code: File not found (1)" response." so we just moved the tftp service to RHEL boxes running HPA tftpd. It's essential for our deployment system to locate the pxelinux config specific to an instal...

Regression: The 'net' command is now failing to login (UNKNOWN ENUM VALUE 1003?)
...roblems began after requiring SMB signing (I forgot the specifics but it was related to CVE-2016-2111 and the one before it I think). I had to enable support for signatures on the NetApp (I'm using their latest patched 8.2.4P3D1 firmware too however it looks like it fails on older releases of OnTap as well) as per their KB. That worked for now making commands like rpcclient working. However, this now breaks the 'net' command: $ sudo net -d10 -U someuser%somepass -S <netapp hostname> share .... ntlmssp3_handle_neg_flags: Got challenge flags[0x60898205] - possible downgrade dete...

smbclient: Renaming file on DFS root fails with NT_STATUS_OBJECT_PATH_NOT_FOUND
If a file is stored directly on a DFS enabled share, renaming fails with NT_STATUS_OBJECT_PATH_NOT_FOUND. The usecase may sound unusual, but a customer is using NetApp ONTAP 9, which by default advertises DFS capabilities for all shares, and he cannot disable it for policy reasons. I can also reproduce the issue with smbd and Windows Server 2012 R2 (haven't checked with other versions). IMHO it is caused by: - Not setting SMB2_HDR_FLAG_DFS when calling smb2cli_...

NetApp vfiler example scripts
Hi, For anyone who is interested; I created some basic scripts based on my current iSCSI block script. http://kinkrsoftware.nl/contrib/xen/block-netapp http://kinkrsoftware.nl/contrib/xen/netapp-lun.py Basically these two scripts allow you to start a vfiler with a qtree of customers. You log in the NetApp upon boot, and can use: netapp://customer1/disk1 It is work in progress... because I

smb_lookup error=-13
I am experiencing an odd problem while attempting to mount and access a directory with smbfs. smbclient does not exhibit the same behavior. I have created a directory /mnt/smb-test and am attempting to mount a volume from a NetApp Filer running OnTap 7 with NTFS security mode. An Active Directory DC handles security for the share. The Linux machine shows as registered in AD and I can use wbinfo -u and -g fine. I use mount -t smbfs -o username=someuser, password=somepassword, workgroup=THEDOMAIN //NETAPP/somevolume /mnt/smb-test. The operati...

Semaphore setup on database???
we are tried setup CENTOS 4.6 with Informix Dynamic server version 10 UC8 on DELL 6800. The problem we have is while doing bdatabase backup (ontape), we have error happen. I guess the error come from "semaphoe". server semaphore are: # sysctl -a|grep sem kernel.sem = 250 32000 128 128 # sysctl -a|grep shm vm.hugetlb_shm_group = 0 kernel.shmmni = 4096 kernel.shmall = 4194304 kernel.shmmax = 2147483648 Does a...

Regarding [Bug 1936] lseek failed in map_ptr
...pen Enterprise Server SP2 (SLES 9 SP3 Equivalent) and syncing with another Novell Open Enterprise Server SP2 (SLES 9 SP3 Equivalent). The mount point is via smbfs with kerberos authentication against an Active Directory 2k3 domain controller. The mount is established against a NetApp R200 running OnTap 7.0.1-r1. This has all worked previously without issue. Nothing has changed on the client or server end. There must be some change in the data on the mount point which rsync does not like. Thoughts? Regards, Ryan

NetApp Toaster w/ SMBCLIENT
The problem you describe below is fixed in Data NOTAP 5.3x. If you're on an older version, you might want to upgrade. There's another issue, though. The fix for which should be in the next release of Data ONTAP, which isn't far off (sorry for being vague). If you're interested in a good NetApp mailing list that's not run by NetApp, drop an email to: "majordomo@mathworks.com" with "subscribe toasters" in the body of the message. You can also just send your questions to toas...

Re submition of NetAPP Samba Problem
Hi, I'm trying to add a NetApp (Data Ontap 8.1.4) to a Samba 4.1.6 domain and it is failing with the message "Setup cannot connect to an LDAP server for the NETAPP.TEST active directory domain, and so cannot continue". I compared network packets exchanged between netapp/samba and netapp/win2008R2 and the difference is that sam...
