OggPCM family
Hi,
The Xiph Wiki contains the four pages:
OggPCM
OggPCM Draft1 (with Talk page)
OggPCM Draft2
OggPCM Draft3
Can I suggest that this be reduced to just one
(or maybe two) pages. I suggest this because
somebody has started making changes to
OggPCM Draft2. My guess is that this is not
desirable.
Regards,
Martin

Arc, there are a few things you have missed:

status of oggpcm?
Hi All,
What is the status of the oggpcm project?
I'm investigation solutions to the following problem: losslessly encode
double-precision mutli-channel timeseries data in a format that is
compatible with free (libre) internet streaming technologies and that
permits diverse metadata to be encoded with the stream. flac isn't...

maybe you can work together to bring Ambisonics into Ogg/PCM? :)

oggPCM for general data
...ing
and header system to transfer the data to a desktop PC over USB. Rather than
reinvent, I looked around to see what others are using and for existing
tools for testing. Surprisingly, I found few general purpose data formats
that can handle many channels and high multi-rate data. However, ogg and
oggPCM looks like a good fit. I have some questions getting started.
Is the oggPCM codec just header definition on a web page? Is anyone using
it? I have not found the header file yet, does it exist?
Has anyone built libogg and/or liboggz using a cross compiler such as the
arm-elf GNU port?
I am...

The project has been forked, not superceded.
Work on OggPCM is continuing, the team working on OggPCM2 is free to submit
their own draft but some are not welcome to continue work on OggPCM due to
their recent social conduct.
I'm requesting that the team working on OggPCM2 rename their pro...

OggPCM family
In one of the last monthly meetings it was decided that OggPCM is
ready and all it needs is an implementation (for instance, in ogg123).
The problem is that nobody seems available to do it. If either
Martin or Sampo would like to work on it, I believe nobody will
oppose.
CMML and Skeleton implementations are far more urgent right now, though.
I have change...

OggPCM channel maps
I've tried to solicit discussion on this point in the past, but now I'd
like the press the issue for a bit. I'd like to remove the less well
developed mapping header (option 1) from the OggPCM draft, and make
my/our (with Martin Leese) suggestion (option 2) the definitive one.
If anybody objects, let's discuss it on-list. If not, I think it
wouldn't be too bad of an idea if I made the proper adjustment to the
OggPCM spec in, say, 30 days time.

OggPCM format being developed
Just a quick note, realizing that many interested parties on vorbis-dev may not
be subscribed to ogg-dev..
We're working out the details for an OggPCM codec, an uncompressed audio
interchange format which will be used by the next generation Ogg framework.
You can read what's taken place on this so far on the wiki and list:

OggPCM : Need more justification for chunked data
...clear whether with PCM sampling of devices this is actually a common (or even used) case. Do you know how multi-channel sound is sampled? Is it created with different widths/rates on different channels?
If it is not a common case, we can leave the solution to different streams and keep it outside OggPCM. If it's common and the data comes interleaved in one stream, we should discuss including it into OggPCM.
Cheers,
Silvia.

Re: Embedding int32's within threora & vorbis files
What do you want to use OggPCM for? Why not use AU or WAV?
I can only see an advantage in using OggPCM if you want it annotated
using CMML or want to mix it with another codec, such as Theora.
Cheers,
Silvia.

No. I started OggPCM, since it was never proposed to Xiph.org it remains my
trademark until which time it is accepted by Xiph and by myself for release.
It would be similar to me releasing Speex v2.0 - it is not my right, because you
used and promoted the name first, and that makes it yours. If I were to fork

Ambisonics und OggPCM
Arc,
I always thought of you as a harmless idiot, but I no longer think you
are harmless. You are now alone working on the OggPCM because everyone
got tired of your power trip (I always thought some power was required
to do that). Funnily enough, from the moment people gave up on you, it
took only 24 hours to write a much better OggPCM definition than what
you had (even though we don't consider it complete yet). How is th...

OggPCM: support for little-endianness only?
List,
A recent discussion over on XiphWiki is trying to decide if OggPCM
should support only little-endianness or the usual combo of big and
little.
It started with the following statement by an user (Qqq):
"Portable players are usually ARM, which is usually little-endian. The
Macintosh is now little-endian. Obviously the PC is little-endian.
Clearly there is a w...
