ogglame and LAME 3.85 beta
Hi there, I have a question on ogglame, especially on its compression quality. I've download the binary package of ogglame from www.vorbis.com. It works fine. I've also tried LAME 3.85 beta that supports the encoding and decoding of Vorbis streams. I believe that ogglame is a beta version of LAME. I built LAME using libvorb...

This works: low bitrate encoding
Hey everyone, Here's one way to get .ogg files down to about ~20kbps, and it's not too hard: 1. Use sox to resample the files down to 11025khz mono. 2. Feed these to OGGLAME (Lame 3.84 Alpha 1 is what I had laying around on my hard drive). OGGENC demands that the files be 44.1khz, but this version of ogglame didn't seem to care what the sample rate was. I'm sure the quality is not as good as what OGGENC will eventually produce, but it's a whole lot bette...

Decoder example question
Hey all...I'm trying to use the decoder_example.c in the examples directory to decode a .ogg file that was encoded by using the binary encoder ogglame.exe and encoded via the encoder_example.c. I'm running into a problem with the decoder though. It plays FINE under the WinAmp plugin but I when I try and use the decoder_example.c to decode the file it says "End of file before finding all Vorbis headers!" Snippet from ln 169 /* no...

I would really like to get ahold of this as I do not have access to X11 and have currently to resort to commands like "ogglame --decode file.ogg - |aplay" in order to play OGG vorbis files, a method which I'm sure you'll agree is clunky at best. If anyone can suggest a place to get it from, I'd be very greatful. Geoff. -- Geoff Shang <gshang10@scu.edu.au> ICQ number 43634701 --- >8 ---- Lis...

Next Vorbis beta, MPEG+ enkoder
Hi. When can we expect the next beta version of Vorbis encoder (with some tagging & encoding options I hope)? Also, today I tested MPEG+ encoder which you can download from http://www.stud.uni-hannover.de/user/73884/mppenc.zip (win encoder) http://www.stud.uni-hannover.de/user/73884/in_mpp.zip (winamp plug-in) http://www.stud.uni-hannover.de/user/73884/mppdec.zip (win decoder) It sounds

...on't belong on the developers' list.) I tried this with a couple wavs and the Windows oggenc binary from www.vorbis.com. I'm running NT 4 SP6. On both Ogg Vorbis files, playback on WinAmp ends with a loud pop, at all quality settings I checked. When encoded with the old beta binary (ogglame), there is no such pop, so I think it's a new introduction. It doesn't matter which version of the WinAmp plugin I use. (Other than the pop, it's great. Chick Corea sounds crystal at 5 and 6 quality. And now, I go into lurkitude, since I don't think I can offer any more, unless...

Bugfix patch for vorbize, compat patch for grip
...ould patch grip-2.94 (http://www.nostatic.org/grip), and make sure you disable id3, and change the 'MP3 file format' to output the files to '.ogg's. I'll probably email the author of grip tommorow and find out what sort of rearranging it'd take to include transparent vorbize/ogglame support. The vorbize patch fixes a problem that occurs when the user only uses one comment field (eg. album, track title or artist), and it segfaults. If someone with cvs write access could please apply, as Kenneth is away, that'd be great. Lucas <HR NOSHADE> <UL> <LI>app...

who has .m scripts?
Hi, I was wondering whether anyone had any perl or other scripts to reorganize the .m files as vq datasets? I cant' be the first one doing this. erik. --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'vorbis-dev-request@xiph.org' containing only the word 'unsubscribe'

Low sample rates / bit rates
Hey guys. I think Vorbis is pretty cool, but since the current OggEnc only offers 44.1kHz, it limits what I wanted to use it for. So I've been using Lame to get 16kHz mono Vorbis files. I'm curious about whether Lame does Vorbis encoding the "right" way for non-44.1k stuff, or whether it just encodes as it would for 44.1k & changes the sample rate on the output, but I'm

masking problems in Vorbis beta?
Hi all, I just came across the following page: http://r3mix.net In the "News" section there is a fairly negative critique of Vorbis; especially it is mentioned that Vorbis "has terrible masking problems". There is also a Vorbis-encoded frequency sweep which shows strong deficiencies at high frequencies, but I suppose this is due to the quite low bitrate of the distributed
