Assuming you're using UNIX, grip.e will do it. I'm assuming it just decodes an mp3 to a wav and then encodes the wav into an ogg. You'll end up with an ogg that sounds no better than the original mp3, though, so it seems like a pointless endeavor. http://chinstrap.cylant.com/~stephen/ Gabe On Thu, Dec 21, 2000 at 02:54:28PM -0600, Robin Cook wrote:> > Is there a utility to convert and MP3 to Vorbis? > > -- > Best regards, > Robin mailto:rcook@wyrms.net > > > > --- >8 ---- > List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ > Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ > To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'vorbis-request@xiph.org' > containing only the word 'unsubscribe' in the body. I don't think it's a good idea to convert MP3s to OGG. You'll just loose quality. Otherwise I've seen OggLame somewhere, which could re-compress MP3 to Vorbis and vice-versa. However, it was beta2 based. You could try WinAmp (set output MP3 output; you can get it at www.winamp.com, but you'll also need Fraunhofer MP3 codec).
