OCFSv1 for kernel 2.6
Hi,
are there plans to make OCSFv1 available for linux kernel 2.6.x ?
We would like to upgrade a RAC on SUSE SLES8 to SUSE SLES9.
SLES9SP2 will support OCFSv2, but if I understand correctly OCFSv1
and OCFSv2 are not compatible and we have to copy all the DB files
from one filesystem to the other.
Thanks for your help.
bye,
Sumit

very strange OCFSv1 problems
We are using RHEL ES 3.0 Update 6, kernel version is 2.4.21-37.ELsmp. We have 5-node Oracle 10g RAC (10.1.0.4).
# cat /proc/ocfs/version
1.0.14-PROD1 Fri Jan 7 13:58:41 PST 2005 (build 7a10bc19875bb2abf8a7fd110639b81b)
One problem with ocfs v1 here is that when I used "debugocfs -h /dev/emcpowere1" command, it always show that "curr_master=INVALID_MASTER". My question is: Is

I think this is one bug of OCFS for IA64 machine. I will ask Colin to
confirm
whether there be available fix or patch for this problem for OCFSv1 on IA64.
Second, it will hang at 37% when we issue DBCA to create database. We found
it hangs when it begin to create redo log files. Also need to ask OCFS
team for
help.
I tried two version of OCFS for IA64. They are 1.0.13-11 and 1.0.11-1. Of
course, we could exclude the possible reason of mis...

RE: Largish filesystems [was Re: XFS install issue]
To start I wish to that you for the swift response on this
issue. I do not think that I would get such a quick
response from a proprietary (closed-source) company. Open
Source :-).
To respond to one the comments about large file systems
?recommend you split it in several smaller (2-4TB)
filesystems ?
This is not feasible in many situations. In some
situations 2-4TB is not even a reasonable

problem with OCFS label
I used this command to create volume label on OCFS:
mkfs.ocfs -F -b 128 -L data13 -m /oradata/data13 -u oracle -g dba -p 0775 /dev/emcpowerp1
emcpowerp is composed of /dev/sdad and /dev/sdk. It seems the above command created the same labels for /dev/emcpowerp1, /dev/sdad1 and /dev/sdk1.
But when I tried to mount this ocfs filesystem by label, it gave me the following error.
# mount -L data13

Hi everbody this is my first post,

OCF2 and LVM
Does anybody knows if is there a certified procedure in to
backup a RAC DB 10.2.0.3 based on OCFS2 ,
via split mirror or snaphots technology ?
Using Linux LVM and OCFS2, does anybody knows if is
possible to dinamically extend an OCFS filesystem,
once the underlying LVM Volume has been extended ?
Thanks in advance
