Console
I am at my first steps with R... and I already notice that the console has a quite limited number of lines. Can anyone tell me how to visualise all the information, which is actually present? I only see the last part of the output, which obviosly exceeds the maximum number of rows in the console. Thank you very much for your help! Daniela [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Popping without home directories
Hello there I tend to e-mail user accounts to my servers with /sbin/nologin and /dev/null as their shell and home directories respectively. I have discovered that Dovcot does not like it when a user does not have a home directory. Obviosly the user POP3 and not IMAP! :P Is there a work around for this? I have a suspicion it is one of the chroot option, but I do not know the meaning chroot.

Short block test
Frank Klemm made the clip to test short block switching - it's made of series of short periodical 'pulses', and this period gets smaller as time passes. You can get this file at: http://www.uni-jena.de/~pfk/Short_Block_Test.wav.gz.gz (1.6MB) (uncompress it twice with gzip) I used oggenc beta3 & mp+ 1.7.8 Oggenc gave 160kbps using mode -b 256 mp+ gave 350kbps (using

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 If I'm going from .wav --> .ogg -q9 --> .ogg -q7 do I suffer any ill effects or is it just like going from .wav --> .ogg -q7 ?? I ask because I think I want to go down a bit more as the size of the files are around 10mb or so. I can get them from source again and go straight to - -q7 if need be. - -- Robert Cole -----BEGIN PGP

Kernel 2.6.9-42.0.2.plus.c4 doesn´t boot
Hi, after upgrading with yum upgrade my server doesn?t boot with kernel 2.6.9-42.0.2.plus.c4 d. Kernel CentOS-4 x86_64 (2.6.9-34.EL) works just fine. I use 2 HDD as RAID1. Unfortunaly this is a root server so i do not have any console output. This is rather disappointing cause i run mission critical applications on the server. I guess the updates should be used with more caution. Regards,

DJGPP patches and makefiles
Hi. Here are my patches and makefiles for compiling ogg, vorbis and vorbis-tools on DOS with DJGPP. They can build them from cvs snapshots and need minimal maintainance (even extract source lists from `makefile.am's). Everything seems to work, except one FP exception on encode at middle bitrates (lowest two and highest bitrates don't cause it) - I don't think it's my

[PATCH 2/3] xen: make direct versions of irq_enable/disable/save/restore to common code
Now that x86-64 has directly accessible percpu variables, it can also implement the direct versions of these operations, which operate on a vcpu_info structure directly embedded in the percpu area. In fact, the 64-bit versions are more or less identical, and so can be shared. The only two differences are: 1. xen_restore_fl_direct takes its argument in eax on 32-bit, and rdi on 64-bit.

[OT] Memory Models and Multi/Virtual-Cores -- WAS: 4.0 -> 4.1 update failing
From: Maciej ?enczykowski <maze at cela.pl> > That's a good point - does anyone know what the new Intel > Virtualization thingamajig in the new dual core pentium D's is about? It's all speculation at this point. But there are _several_ factors. But I'm sure the first time Intel saw AMD's x86-64/PAE52 presentation, the same thing popped into my mind that popped
