Console
I am at my first steps with R... and I already notice that the console has a quite limited number of lines. Can anyone tell me how to visualise all the information, which is actually present? I only see the last part of the output, which obviosly exceeds the maximum number of rows in the console.
Thank you very much for your help!

lm coefficients
...a = d)
Coefficients:
(Intercept) poly(X, 2)1 poly(X, 2)2
9.803 -108.075 51.007
So, d$T best fitted with function
9.803 -108.075 * X + 51.007 * X^2,
yes?
T1 <- 9.803 -108.075 * d$X + 51.007 * d$X^2
T1
705453240
703557595
701664500
699773956
...
So, T1 obviosly gets non-sensible values.. :( Why?
Thanks a lot!

Popping without home directories
Hello there
I tend to e-mail user accounts to my servers with /sbin/nologin and
/dev/null as their shell and home directories respectively.
I have discovered that Dovcot does not like it when a user does not have
a home directory. Obviosly the user POP3 and not IMAP! :P
Is there a work around for this? I have a suspicion it is one of the
chroot option, but I do not know the meaning chroot.
Thanks

Short block test
...with gzip)
I used oggenc beta3 & mp+ 1.7.8
Oggenc gave 160kbps using mode -b 256
mp+ gave 350kbps (using "standard" profile and with joint-stereo off)
I couldn't use mode -b 350 because oggenc always hangs at 98% with
this clip and the file produced has annoying distorsions...
Obviosly (like Monty said) Vorbis is still learning and needs more
tweaking in the short-block detection department (and must also
avoid some patents)...
Greetings,
Aleksandar

Hi,
I''m trying to set up Ruby on Rails following Apple''s tutorial with ruby

Shorewall traffic shaping, getting confused....
...here does the 12 come from and the test 1...
I translated that in my setup to:
1:12 - eth0 tcp - -
- 30
2:12 - eth1 tcp - -
- 30
I think this means to do QoS on eth1 and eth0 but I obviosly this
doesn''t work....
anybody can give me a hand with this setup, or have some examples?
cheers,
Ries van Twisk

If I'm going from .wav --> .ogg -q9 --> .ogg -q7 do I suffer any ill effects
or is it just like going from .wav --> .ogg -q7 ??
I ask because I think I want to go down a bit more as the size of the files
are around 10mb or so. I can get them from source again and go straight to
- -q7 if need be.

Kernel 2.6.9-42.0.2.plus.c4 doesn´t boot
Hi,
after upgrading with yum upgrade my server doesn?t boot with kernel
2.6.9-42.0.2.plus.c4 d. Kernel CentOS-4 x86_64 (2.6.9-34.EL) works just
fine.
I use 2 HDD as RAID1. Unfortunaly this is a root server so i do not have
any console output. This is rather disappointing cause i run mission
critical applications on the server.
I guess the updates should be used with more caution.

DJGPP patches and makefiles
...The helper makefiles are all identical.
They are small so I allowed myself to have many copies.
One runs make from the `djgpp' directory to build things. He can build:
all, debug, profile (I didn't test profile), install, unistall, clean,
distclean (also removes the generated makefiles). Obviosly you must
install ogg before building vorbis and install vorbis before building
vorbis-tools.
The patches (use -p1 to apply):
* ogg: defines types to be the same as in OS/2 (it's almost the same
compiler).
* vorbis: adds dos binary i/o mode support into examples - only those 3
(of 5) that alr...

[PATCH 2/3] xen: make direct versions of irq_enable/disable/save/restore to common code
Now that x86-64 has directly accessible percpu variables, it can also
implement the direct versions of these operations, which operate on a
vcpu_info structure directly embedded in the percpu area.
In fact, the 64-bit versions are more or less identical, and so can be
shared. The only two differences are:
1. xen_restore_fl_direct takes its argument in eax on 32-bit, and rdi on 64-bit.

It's all speculation at this point. But there are _several_ factors.
But I'm sure the first time Intel saw AMD's x86-64/PAE52 presentation,
the same thing popped into my mind that popped
