CO 7.7.1908 Updates not getting to mirrors?
I *know* there has been a lot going on, and congratulations on getting CentOS 8 out! But(!), I don't see any updates to CO 7.7.1908 in the "updates" directory on the mirrors I typically use. All the files date from Sept. 14th. Is something broken? -- *Matt Phelps* *Information Technology Specialist, Systems Administrator* (Computation Facility, Smithsonian Astrophysical

Hi, I have just started to get dovecot list messages which I had not been receiving until today. How can I opt out (again)? regards, Michal Szymanski On Fri, Nov 30, 2018 at 10:42:22AM +0100, Per Jessen wrote: > Aki Tuomi wrote: > >On 30.11.2018 10.03, Per Jessen wrote: > > > >>Hi AKi > >> > >>I guess my address was re-subscribed then? Triple- or Quad-display single-card graphics solutions
So, after some discussion of our new control workstations, we are iterating in on a solution; we are looking at a 1U short-depth SuperMicro SuperServer 5017R-MF with a graphics card in the PCI-Ex16 expansion slot. However, the display requirements have increased to 3 or more monitors for future expansion, so I was wondering whether anyone had any experience with triple- or quad-display single card

Linking 2 columns in 2 databases and applying a function
Hi all, I have two datasets, one that represents a long-term time series and one that represents summary data for the time series. It looks something like this: x<-data.frame(Year=c(2001,2001,2001,2001,2001,2001,2002,2002,2002,2002,2002,2002), Month=c(1,1,1,2,2,2),Q=c(5,5,5,6,6,6,3,3,3,4,4,5)) y<-data.frame(Year=c(2001,2001,2002,2002),Month=c(1,2,1,2),Threshold_Q=c(5,5,4,4)) What I'd

USB Audio sound card
All- Ah, the saga of the 1U workstation continues. So, in all my work configuring the thing, I completely forgot about AUDIO; I only realized my mistake when I went on a cable-measuring expedition this morning. Unfortunately, none of the 1U servers I've been looking at come with audio outputs (there aren't even audio headers on the motherboard), and I've used the only availabnle slot

System beeps in kernel 2.6.18-194
So, just today I noticed a problem with kernel 2.6.18-194 (CentOS 5.5) on several Intel DP965LT systems; the system beeps (such as terminal beeps) are no longer passed through to the external speakers. This is a problem because in our situation the boxes are distant from their monitor/keyboard, the system speaker on this motherboard is extremely weak, and there are no system speaker header pins

Centos 6.4: Possible bug in system-config-network-cmd
I'm having a puzzling problem with system-config-network-cmd in CentOS 6.4. I have a workstation with a number of different grub boot configurations (a spare for a set of workstations, basically), each of which has a parameter MYHOST=<hostname>, and I am using system-config-network-cmd to set the boot configuration during the network process (using a small custom system service that runs

Motherboard and chipset compatibility
So, having returned from a month's vacation, I'm back to work on attempting to build a set of small form factor CentOS compatible computers. I've really tried to do my homework, but this doesn't appear (at first glance) to be at all easy. It's not made easier by the fact that I have to get it right the first time (and I haven't built a PC in a decade); the time and money

Finding/identifying a value within a factor
Hi all, I'm trying to identify a particular digit or value within a vector of factors. Specifically, this is environmental data where in some cases the minimum value reported is "<" a particular number (and I want to manipulate only these). For example: x<-c("1","2","3","4","<1") For a dataset that is hundreds or

Random number generation
Hi All. (This is probably an incredibly stupid question :)) I have just noticed that every time I start an R2.3 session and request a random number (say with rnorm) that I receive the same number. AFAIK I have not set a seed at any point. Returning to an older version of R(v1.8) I get the behaviour that I have come to expect, where a new seed is automatically generated for each new session

Changing disk UUID after cloning
So, I have a CentOS 6 system, and I want to make several clones of it. I'm using Clonezilla to clone the drives; that's no problem. But the drive UUIDs are driving me up the wall. After cloning, the two drives have the same UUID, but I'd like each clone to have different UUIDs so there's no possibility of a conflict when I am running diagnostics with two drives installed, etc.

Boxplot of multiple vectors with different lengths
Hello, I'm attempting to write a code that automatically imports data from different files (with different lengths-just one variable) and makes tidy box plots for comparison. I can successfully import the data and create a list of the vectors I want to compare. But I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to generate box plots using the "list" option. Suppose these are my data:

RHEL 7.8 is out
This is not your usual "so when is CO 7.8.xxxx coming out?" posts. I'm just curious if the CentOS team is affected by our current world conditions, or is work-from-home modus operandi for the team? megatec driver support "Numeric Digital 3000 sw"
Hi, I am not sure if you are the list to hit with this, but NUT's megatec driver support ours "Numeric Digital 3000 sw" UPS - at least that's what it claims on front- at the Watcher telescope at Boyden Observatory / RSA. I wasn't able to find manufacturer, but it looks Numeric is some existing UPS factory. I did not receive any informations from manufacturer, so I believ

Machine check events
On my new Haswell-based machines, I am occasionally seeing entries like the following in /var/log/messages: kernel: [Hardware Error]: Machine check events logged (I would not have even noticed them, except that they get flagged by logwatch.) These messages always occur alone, and don't seem to have a corresponding entry in any other log file in /var/log. How can I get more info about these

kpatch (live kernel patching) in CentOS 7.7?
Forgive me if this has been answered before and I've missed it. This https://access.redhat.com/solutions/2206511 says live kernel patches will be available via yum updates as of RHEL 7.7. comparing ARIMA model to data
hi, i am trying to teach myself about ARIMA models. i have followed examples from a number of sources and have more or less got the hang of how it works. i would like to compare the output from the fitted model to the original data. is this possible? or even a meaningful thing to do? to be clear, for example, having generated a fit to some data using > fit <- arima(LakeHuron, order = c(1,

Solar controller?
Hi NUT developers, we rely on NUT to access valuable UPS data for our autonomous telescopes (see http://rts2.org for list, locations are not complete..) . Thanks for a software which does exactly what we need. Now we are starting new era, with installing telescopes on hostile spots without infrastructure. So we will have a solar cells, storing power to batteries during day, to be used during
