oblique.tree : the predict function asserts the dependent variable to be included in "newdata"
Dear R community,
I have recently discovered the package oblique.tree and I must admit that
it was a nice surprise for me,
since I have actually made my own version of a kind of a classifier which
uses the idea of oblique splits (splits by means of hyperplanes).
So I am now interested in comparing these two classifiers.
But what I do not seem to understand is why the function

Factor Analysis with orthogonal and oblique rotation
Hello
I seem to find only two types of rotation for the factanal function in R, the Varimax and Promax, but is it possible to run a orthogonal and oblique rotations in R?
Thanks in advance

fa (psych) output oblique.scores=TRUE vs. FALSE
Dear R-List,
I have carried out a factor analysis using fa (psych) with nfactors=2,
rotation="oblimin" and fm="pa". Now I have to report both pattern AND
structure matrix. As I have understood R-Documentation, this can be obtained
by setting the "oblique.scores" argument TRUE (structure matrix) or FALSE
(pattern matrix), respectively. However both produced the same

Changing ComputerModern in postscript(...): A first attempt at contributing....
Hi
First off, thanks to all the various R developers, your package is very
impressive.
I'm not sure what the protocols are for contributing, and I've not done this
before, so please excuse nay obvious errors or oversights... Also I'm by no
means an R,TeX/LaTeX, or typesetting expert, I have largely stumbled my way
to this point.
Objective: I'd like to get R postscript(...) to

R version of SAS Proc Varclus
I am interested in finding an R version of SAS "Proc Varclus". SAS's Proc Varclus implements an oblique cluster analysis based on principal components. How can I find out if R has a package that runs the same algorithm implemented in SAS "Proc Varclus"?
Thank you,

factor analysis and pattern matrix
Hi,
In a discussion of factor analysis in "Using Multivariate Statistics" by
Tabachnick and Fidell, two matrices are singled out as important for
interpreting an exploratory factor analysis (EFA) with an oblique promax
rotation. One is the "structure matrix". The structure matrix contains the
correlations between variables and factors. However, these correlations may

R CMD check and postscript fonts
Hello,
I came across this by using R cmd check - otherwise I would probably not have
noticed.
One of my functions does something like this:
# postscript()
# plot(1, xlim = c(0, 10), ylim = c(0, 4), type = "n", ann = FALSE, axes = FALSE)
# text(1:10, 2, c("a","b"), cex = seqcex, family="mono",font=2)
Which results in the error:

Object type name and class name
I came across the distinction between the name of an object and the name of the class that it belongs to in an oblique way again today, which made me question my acceptance that it would be natural for them to differ.
I asked a question on SO here:

How to enable Arial font for postcript/pdf figure on Windows?
Hi,
I need to generate some figure using the Arial font as a requirement for
PLoS.
Following their guidelines, I have converted the windows font files
arial.tff files to .afm using tff2afm (exec file from MikTeX), but when I
try to generate a postcript file, the postcript device does not recognize
the .afm files.
The code I use to test the new font is the following:
