problems with the serial port
Hello all, I know there have been some posts on this topic before, but I am very new to this, so I had some trouble decifering exactly what I have to do to get this working. I am trying to get a program which accesses the serial port to receive data from a 3 degree of freedom tracking device to work under linux. The GUI loads just fine, but then I get an error from the program (not WINE) that

[LLVMdev] Enabling the vectorizer for -Os
...han usual. This is why I mentioned FP-safety, undefined behaviour, vectorization, etc. I don't expect O3 results to be faster than O2 results on average, but on specific cases where you know that the potential disaster is acceptable, should be fine to assume O3. Most people, though, use O3 (or O9!) in the expectancy that this will be always better. It not being worse than O2 doesn't help, either. ;) I don't think it's *wrong* to put aut-vec on O2, I just think it's not its place to be, that's all. The potential to change results are there. cheers, --renato ------------...

Clustering groups
Hi, is there a way in R to identify those cluster methods / distance measures which best reflect predefined cluster groups. Given 10 observations O1...O10. Optimally, these 10 observations cluster as follows: cluster1: O1, O2, O3, O4 cluster2: O5, O6 cluster3: O7, O8, O9, O10. What I want is a method which identifies that cluster method / distance measure which best reflect my predefined groups. Is that somehow possible to do? Cheers -- View this message in context: http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/Clustering-groups-tp2297210p2297210.html Sent from the R help maili...

Catching Ajax Failures (not 500s)
I am trying to catch failed Ajax requests, but I''m talking about requests that receive no response from the server (server is down), not responses that result in a 500. The latter can be handled with the onException or onFailure callback, but I am not able to handle the former. To reproduce/test: 1) Start your server 2) Create a page that does this:

safe prediction from lm
I am fitting a regression model with a bs term and then making predictions based on the model. According to some info on the internet at http://www.stat.auckland.ac.nz/~yee/smartpred/DummiesGuide.txt there are some problems with using predict.lm when you have a model with terms such as bs,ns,or poly. However when I used one of the examples they said would illustrate the problems I get virtually

[LLVMdev] Enabling the vectorizer for -Os
Hi, I would like to start a discussion about enabling the loop vectorizer by default for -Os. The loop vectorizer can accelerate many workloads and enabling it for -Os and -O2 has obvious performance benefits. At the same time the loop vectorizer can increase the code size because of two reasons. First, to vectorize some loops we have to keep the original loop around in order to handle the last

Scriptaculous loader ... how to clone it?
Hi, I would like to use the system loader as in scriptaculous.js to load dynamicly some of my javascript files. So I copied and pasted the code from scriptaculous.js into my modules.js (this file should load all my js files from the directory "modules" !). But the problem is when I launch my web page, the scriptaculous.js works correctly but not the modules.js. I think the two methods
