Old video cards donation
...'ve been suggested
to check whether any nouveau developer would be interested in getting one of
them for development / testing purposes.
Here's the list :
* AGP 4x video card Creative Labs 3D Blaster NVIDIA GeForce 2 GTS (NV15) DDR
32 MB VGA output
* AGP 2x video card NVIDIA Riva TNT2 (NV5) SDR 32 MB VGA/TV output
* AGP ?? video card Siluro VGA/TV output (not sure this one still works)
Please contact me directly, should you be interested in any of those.
Kind regards,
Arnaud

Looks like nvkm_device_endianness unconditionally reads out 0x4. I
don't think that reg is there pre-NV11. At least NV4, NV5, NV10 and
maybe NV15 (which is logically pre-NV11) don't support big-endian
mode. Not sure about NV1A, which was the IGP of the series and IIRC
logically pre-NV11 as well (but clearly could only be used with x86
chips, since it was part of the motherboard).
Aha, it's documented in rnndb:...

NV5 in another PC (secondary card in x86-64) made the systrem crash on
boot, in nvkm_therm_clkgate_fini.

Debugging help needed
Hi,
I once had nouveau working and stable back whem 2.6.29 was released.
Nowadays, it hangs within less tahn an hours work. The symptom is that
the mouse moves, but no other updates to the screen. The machine is
otherwise working mostly ok so I can ssh to it. The "issue" I have is
that there is nothing interesting (afaict) in any log. Nothing in
Xog.0.log, nothing in dmesg.

What was the problem ? Does enabling this dead code will fix the problem ?

[PATCH] drm/nouveau/dispnv04: Remove dead code
These are dead code since 3.10. If there is no plan to use
it further, these can be removed forever.

[PATCH 0/4] Overlay / format improvements
...creation time (these are set apart by their YUV formats). Further,
I simplify some error-checking details for both nv4 and nv10+ framebuffers as
well as using the pitch properly instead of making wild assumptions (how did that
every work... not sure).
This has seen some modest modetest testing on NV5, NV17, NV34, and NV4A. I noticed
some odd issues on NV5 with certain scaling factors, but I'm somewhat sure that
those issues were there before - either the hw can't keep up or we're not twiddling
some clocks.

[PATCH xf86-video-nouveau] nv4/exa: tiling is unsupported pre-nv10, reduce alignment requirements
Commit 8c8f15c9d3 added increased pitch alignment requirements to handle
nv10-nv40 tiling (which must have a small number * PoT pitch). While
NV4/NV5 do have tiling, this was never supported in nouveau.
This change enables 1920x1200 resolutions since the maximum surface
pitch has to be strictly less than 8192. The current logic will align
1920*4 up to 8192 unnecessarily.

[PATCH xf86-video-nouveau] dri2, present: move in pixmap before getting addresses
...ns, we avoid
ever backing pixmaps with vram (in GPUs with 32MB of VRAM or less).
This fixes the observed cases where we ended up assuming that a bo was
backing a pixmap without doing the explicit move-in.
Signed-off-by: Ilia Mirkin <imirkin at alum.mit.edu>
---
This fixes some crashes on a NV5 with 32MB VRAM + xfwm4 --vblank=present,
however the failure modes (e.g. pixmap doesn't have backing) can happen
anywhere I believe, just much less likely.
