NTVDM errors after joining domain
...rom the Novell server to the Samba domain runs some applications using Rbase version 2! Yes, we are trying to get away from it but it is taking some time. Anyway he had local administrator on his machine and the applications worked fine. Now no matter if he has administrator or not, he gets NTVDM errors. If I try to play around with the memory settings (in the DOS program properties) the NTVDM errors go away, but the DOS prompt just disappears right away, even if I tell it not to close on Exit. This is on Windows NT that he is running these 16-bit programs. The two things that have c...

Win10 to Samba as NT- PDC needs 3 settings
Upgrading Win7-32 (connected to Samba as NT-PDC) to Win10 requires - disable HardenedUncPaths (MutualAuth & Integrity) - install NTVDM - enable LegacyConsole otherwise the logon-script in Netlogon does not run, even if samba.cnf contains "server max level = NT1" Is Samba as NT-PDC supposed to handle HardenedUncPaths? Did I miss that I should have enabled that somehow in smb.conf? Would Samba as AD-DC automatically work...

Win10 to Samba as NT- PDC needs 3 settings
...soft - could ever answer my questions to have a working startmenu with Windows 10. So I would like to try "your" way with the netlogon. Could you please so kind to give me more specific instructions, how to disable UNC Paths (Registry?) and enable LegacyConsole? And are you sure you need NTVDM? Could be needed for logon-script, since these are mostly bat-files. Multi-user databases (DOS application) in WIndows XP and Windows 2k file locking problem
...His is correct behavior. Also, users with our application can read and edit some .DBF's concurrently. All concurrent edits and updates are goes fine (in the order of byte-range locking). But when I start this application on Windows 2k or XP in their "premium" DOS virtual machine (ntvdm), all things goes bad. Applications on the stations, which are runs under Win2k or XP also create NTX or DBF files as it needs. But other user (from ANY client (Win98/Me, 2k or XP) may freely overwrite "locked" NTX files and delete them. Seems what this files are not locked, but smbst...
