Pls. HELP : v1.9.18p10 much more robust with security=server than v2.04
...e same smb.conf on two servers, one running samba v2.04b and the other running samba v1.9.18p10 (Sun Solaris2.6). With v1.9.18p10 everything works fine since months. On the server running v2.0x in about 10% of all NT-authentification-tries (with net use m: \\sambaserver_v2.0\sharename, win95 and NTSP3/4) my users get a 'unvalid password'-message. In the samba-logfile I see 'password server NTPDC rejected the password' That appears a few times in the logfile. That is not always a problem, but in about 10% of all cases. Very ugly is the fact, that iif this happened after a few p...

Synchronising NT and Unix Passwords
Hi, I've been handed the administration of our Solaris 2.5.1 Server and have recently upgraded to Samba 2.0.5a. As the server is in a predominantly NTsp3 environment it was requested that when the NT passwords change (each month) the Unix Passwords should also change. All the NT and Win95 Clients are currently authenticating using Plain Text Passwords. Also the current security level is USER although I have tried to set this to use the NT PDC with...

SAMBA 1.9.18p10 problem
I have been using Samba 1.9.18p8 in a Solaris 2.6 machine for months but suddenly this week there is a problem. Nothing's changed. I have some persistent connection of my NTSP3 client to the samba share. When I login as usual, it fails to mount the drive. It either prompt for password but whatever password the samba rejects, or give a "Access is Denied" when you try to access the drive when you're in explorer. In both cases, I need to disconnect the drive a...

File copy speed differences... writing to SAMBA is faster than reading from it??!
Here's an interesting thing I notice between NTSP3 and Linux 2.0.33+ w/samba 1.9.18p8 [TCP_NODELAY, read prediction on, SND and RCV buffers to 64k, though I've tried 16k, 32K, 64k, max size 2k, 4k, 8k, 16k, no difference] When I copy a file from any share to my NT's HD, I get perhaps 280KB/sec. When I copy from NT HD to Samba share, I...
