smbfs and i/o errors
Hi guys, I hope I've reached the correct mailinglist. I'm experiencing a problem with smbfs. You can mount shares, but after a while, the connection is broken and all sorts of strange stuff happens. I've got a share called /mnt/ntshare which remotely mounts an NT host: [arnow@foo /mnt]$ ls ls: ntshare: Input/output error cdrom/ floppy/ [arnow@foo /mnt]$ [arnow@foo /mnt]$ dmesg | tail smb_trans2_request: result=-32, setting invalid smb_retry: new pid=360, generation=2 smb_trans2_request: result=-32, setting invalid smb_retry: n...

smbclient and encrypted passwords
I have an NT Network and as one of the first steps in eliminating NT from my shop I need to be able to mount some of my NT shares on my Linux boxes. When I execute: smbmount //NTXX/ShareName /NTShare it asks me for a password. I enter the correct password (yes I've checked my capslock key and made sure I typed it correctly) but I get the following error. 10819: session setup failed: ERRDOS - ERRnoaccess (Access denied.) SMB connection failed executing: smbmount //NTXX/Sharename /NTSha...

Problem with Samba

I am able to use samba locally (from my linux machine to my linux machine) but when I try to connect via my win95 machine, it doesn't find my linux box on the network. when I click on entire network, It

Changing ACLs as administrator
One work-around would be to create a hidden share that only Domain Admins can access. The use "force user=root" on that share. Then you'll be able to change ACL's and not be root. ...ubject=unsubscribe> List-Archive: http://lists.samba.org/pipermail/samba/ Hi, Ok I understend now. I thing that it isn't possible in simple way. I was the same problem some months ago. If you mount NT share as one user all other users writing with perms of this one. Now I solve it by mount ntshare directly to workstation as letter drive. (Nt is standalone server in samba 2.2 domain). Other method is mount each user to his home drive as this user, but I suppouse, it not satisfy you (mount process is slow and dangerous). best regards Marek Feszczuk -----Oryginalna wiadomo6f----- Od: vivek ac...
