NT_STATUS_PASSWORD_MUST_CHANGE looping
Hi,
We have an Ubuntu 10.10 server running Samba 3.5.4 with OpenLDAP 2.4.23
and we have a small problem where every time a user logs onto a workstation
they are asked to change their password. Once they enter a new password
and confirm it, it asks them again and again and again.
The only way to fix this (which isn't a fix) is to use the smbldap-passwd
tool to reset their password. But then

So, finally for the samba-related question: does anyone know if
"password required to change" behaviour has perhaps changed between
functional levels? Could this be the reason of the different behaviour
between MSAD and samba-4.4.4?

Password must change: 0
Hi all,
I'm trying to create a domain user in USRMGR.EXE. The samba account will
have its property "Password must change" set to 0. this results in the
user not being able to access shares if he has been never logged in
before. smbclient will return NT_STATUS_PASSWORD_MUST_CHANGE after
logon. in USRMGR.EXE, it is impossible to uncheck the checkbox for
"password must change". i.e. you can click to change it, but it will be
checked again next time you open the user's configuration window.
On the other hand, adding a user using "pdbedit -a", the proper...

Handling forced pwd changes
...n 19
servers, each with around 30 users at 2-3 shared drives per user.
The client I'm contracting with and doing this work for is very
pleased with the results, as am I!
But - how do I now have Samba deal with the PDC requesting an NT
password change? This event is recorded in the Samba log as
NT_STATUS_PASSWORD_MUST_CHANGE.
At the moment all users accessing resources via Samba have had the
forced password change disabled on the relevant NT account so the
problem is suppressed. It's workable like this because the users
are still able to change their NT password by using Windows' Control
Panel.
With the force...
