When I connect via smbclient from another machine, I can navigate and read files, but I can't create a directory or replace any files; smbclient prints the message: "NT_STATUS_MEDIA_WRITE_PROTECTED making remote directory \test" Incidentally, it *used* to work fine until I upgraded my Ubuntu Desktop to 8.0.4LTS.
