`file exists', and messed up timestamps with NT4SP6
Hello! We've been using our new samba fileserver for a while now (its running on FreeBSD), and found two problems. First the one we were already able to solve: NT4SP6 machines copying files to the server with e.g. the standard explorer resulted in the files ending up with wrong timestamps (`now' instead of what was on the original files). After some archive searching i tried this in smb.conf and it fixed it: nt smb support = no The other problem (which...

rpcclient enumdrivers 3 times out on NT drivers
This is puzzling me (and hampering some work, slightly): NT4SP6 + full updates server, with some printers attached. "rpcclient -U admin%pass enumdrivers 2" server gives me a list of stuff like this: [Windows 4.0] Printer Driver Info 2: Version: [0] Driver Name: [HP LaserJet 5Si PCL 5e] Architecture: [Windows 4.0] Driv...

Unable to enable Add/Remove Printer Drivers (3.0.0)
I used to be able to load printer drivers via "server properties". Now when I go in the printer drivers are listed and I can use the properties button but the Add/Remove buttons are greyed out. This is a Samba 3.0.0/2.4.2-SGI_XFS_1.0 box and I've tried both NT4sp6 and Win2003beta clients (both exhibit the same behaviour). I see the following in the log when I connect to "\\barbel\Printers and Faxes" [2003/10/02 09:06:04, 0] smbd/connection.c:register_message_flags(220) register_message_flags: tdb_fetch failed [2003/10/02 09:06:05, 0] lib/util_s...

AW: Samba 2.2.1 and W2k SP2
...makademie.de] Gesendet: Mittwoch, 14. November 2001 10:02 An: phj@epost.de Betreff: Re: Samba 2.2.1 and W2k SP2 Hi, I have read your mail, that you have a W2K client joining your 2.2.1 PDC Domain. Can you tell me, how you connected your W2K client to the PDC? I have a PDC which can be joined by NT4SP6 Clients and now I have some w2K clients to do the same. I added an accout for my W2K client but when I try to add it to the domain I'M asked for an account and password to join the domain... Are ther some special options I have to use in the smb.conf?? May be you have a step-by-step HOwTO like...

Problem with W2K SP2 and Samba 2.2.2
Hello I have a problem with client in W2K SP2 (not with SP1 or NT4). I use a samba server (solaris 2.7/samba 2.2.2) and a PDC (NT4SP6). When a user open a session, the home directory of the user is not connected. But, after, if I connect a network drive, it is correct. So, I think that is not a problem of password (EnablePlainTextPassword = 1 on W2K and security=user on samba server). Can somebody help me ? I have look the...

adding machines to a pre 3 pdc
...wins server = <server>' cannot be set in the smb.conf file. nmbd will abort with this setting. Which was curious because I only had win support = true and nothing else. Took both of the settings out and everything seemed happy until I tried adding machines. I have tried adding w2k and nt4sp6 both with no luck.. The config worked and was running as a test pdc for the last year or so until this upgrade. Comments and questions are welcome. -- *--* Mail: lawrence@otak.com *--* Voice: 425.739.4247 *--* Fax: 425.827.9577 *--* HTTP://www.otak-k.com/~lawrence/ ---------------------------...

Is samba or a kernel bug causing my FC4 server to crash?
I've got a fully updated Fedora Core 4 server crashing hard every week or two. I use Samba via smbmount and autofs to read & delete log files on 17 XP boxs and 6 NT4SP6 boxes as well as a couple other Windows files servers every 5 minutes. The first indication of a problem I get is smbmount stops working, then the server becomes unresponsive to the point where only a power slam will fix it, and it does fix it...for a few days. I've got Samba 3.0.14a-2 insta...
