AW: Problems with installation
ok - I tried this too. But CentOS tries to find the floppy as /dev/hda which is not the device for the USB-Floppy. Dell ships one with the server because no one is integrated. So when I try to include the driver disk the installer is not able to find it. -----Urspr?ngliche Nachricht----- Von: centos-bounces at centos.org [mailto:centos-bounces at centos.org] Im Auftrag von Jim Perrin Gesendet:

feedback/help request
...m I missing quoting requirements to escape the "=", or blowing the parameter separators (I tried both spaces and commas, and one long quoted string)? Steve Brown sbrown7 at umbc.edu P.S.: The particular parameters that I have tried passing in have been just about all permutations of pci=noprobe, idex=noprobe, hdx=noprobe, and hdx=none (with the proper replacements of "x", of course).

HP DL140G2 and SATA woes
...h a CD-ROM drive (don''t have a power splitter currently). Without the CD-ROM drive, dmesg shows the IDE driver assigning hda and hdc to my two SATA drives -- and later: ata_piix version 1.03 ata_piix: 0x1f0 IDE Port busy ata_piix: probe of 0000:00:1f.2 failed with error -16 Booting with noprobe doesn''t appear to solve this problem. My current thought is to modify the modules.pci, etc stuff to have my PCI device id not match up with the IDE driver. Any other suggestions? Problems with installation
...I have two problems: 1. After booting from CD I pressed 'return' to start installation (BIOS-support for USB-keyboard works). After probing the hardware my USB-Keyboard is not working anymore. Dell removed ALL PS/2-Interfaces so I have to use USB. When I start installation with 'linux noprobe' the keyboard still is working and the installation starts. 2. After the installation starts it tries to load the storage drivers. In the case for this hardware it tries to load megaraid_sas. But it can't load the driver without an error. The installer just says:"loading megaraid_sa...

Installing 4.4 - problem on 386
I tried installing with several options (noacpi noapm; noprobe; noprobe skipddc noacpi noapm nodma). Always I get the same error. BUT this is not in fac a CentOS problem at all, because I get the same error always when I boot from hd (Fedora Core), IF there is a CD in the CD-ROM drive. (I tried with CentOS 1/4, CentOS 2/4 and a HP printer software CD.) It mus...

autoprobe for nVidia 6200 broken
...ideo driver and my card. The proprietary "nvidia" driver works fine (once it is installed). With the install disks, I am stuck with a text install (and thus locked out of some of the LVM options I need). I have not found a way to override the autoprobed video driver except to use "noprobe", and I have no idea what drivers I need to install to do the install correctly. Wish list for fixes: 1. Fix (or update) "nv" driver so it works right with all 6200 cards. 2. Fix the autoprobe so it uses the "vesa" driver for my card (Gigabyte GV-NX62158D<P>). 3....

CentOS 64bits can't boot
Hello all, I got this tiny problem, I bought an Asus m2n-vm hdmi mobo two weeks ago and it seems not to be fully working under centos amd64(4.6, 4.9, 5.0, 5.1) or even redhat EL 5.0 i386, amd64, I tried to install centos and redhat EL using the linux dd and linux noprobe commands to load driver disk from nVidia guys but it doesn't detect the HD I'm using their diferent versions of the driver RHEL 4_U5, 4_U6 , 5, 5_U1 , then if I change the IDE config in the BIOS from SATA to AHCI, it detects the SATA HD during the install process, but when it boots up, it t...

Boot/init problem with IBM Netfinity 4500
...t appear to be getting that far. So, somewhere between the initrd's switchroot and spawning INIT something's broke. It'll boot into rescue mount and I can chroot into the root filesystem and everything in there seems to be as it should. I've tried booting with selinux=0, noapic and noprobe with no change. Where next? All suggestions appreciated. Will.

Linux PV Drivers - VBD device not loading - Cannot get Major 3/22 for ide
I am trying to get PV drivers running on both Centos 5.1 and Centos 5.3 HVMs, my DomU is Centos 5.2 with Xen 3.31. For 5.1 I install the kmod-xenpv RPM but for 5.3 the drivers seem to be built-in. For the network drivers to work I had to unload the Realtek NIC driver and renamed its .ko files to stop it loading. Adding the Xen-Vnif alias to modprobe.conf then got the PV NICs working nicely (Much

Install Centos 6 x86_64 on Dell PowerEdge 2970 and a SSD (hardware probing issues)
...otherboard SATA ports (A/B not the PERC backplane) when a "detecting hardware" is performed the system crashes, reboots and gives an E1422 error code (useless video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhyMeUHJar4). We narrowed it down to a motherboard BIOS issue, if we remove the SSD or add noprobe to the kernel the installer does not crash. But when specifing "noprobe" it does not appear to have the loopback driver (and likely many more). ERROR: failed to mount loopback device /dev/loop0 on /mnt/runtime as /tmp/install.img: (null) INFO: mounting stage2 failed Next steps, I alre...

Any experience with CentOS 4.4 and Intel DQ965GF?
Hi! I'm having trouble installing CentOS 4.4 to a system with Intel's DQ965GF motherboard. The installer hangs (even with noprobe option). I'm wondering if someone has succeeded with this type of installation? Is the only choice to install the OS in another, older setup, update it and move the disks to the DQ965GF setup?
