Testing UBUNTU 11.04 Beta 2 with wine 1.3.15 from the download page. Winetricks did not come in with the download and is not in synaptic. Hope this will be fixed soon.

gmax won't start up after the initial time. The messages I am getting indicate that it has become case sensitive with respect to names. The installer put in a directory named 'stdplugs' but the program wanted it to be 'StdPlugs'. So I renamed it. It still says these libraries fail to initialize. I must be missing a windows module but I did put in the recommended winetricks

I have a couple of programs, one a windows .exe, the other a .java program that re user created programs that support SimCity 4. I've tried adding them to various places around wine's file system, but no soap. How does one do this? Does wine include the JRE to run java stuff? I can edit the registry if only I knew what to put in there and where.

On several occasions lately I've had to force installation of updates. The update-manager app; has been flagging some of them with an invalid permission code or some such. Perhaps the algorithm for this has changed with 11.04? Running on UBUNTU 10.04 current to recent hours. When running Simcity 4 Rush Hour with a very small suite of plugins, sometimes the graphics goes haywire. The early symptoms are RGB + black squares appearing here and there. As this develops, graphic objects start to take on primary colours. I've never let it go to a crash. Seems wine isn't there yet. I think it only allocates one buffer, and my debug output indicates this is causing a problem. I got 15,000+ lines of output, and I am sure we don't want to put them on this database. I can only vouch for one program, but this is reproducible. Running SimCity4 occasionally when an interrupt occurs, sometimes as little as an extra mouse click and always on a context switch, the sound from the program is lost and does not recover. I've used the Wiki page to find and set my video memory size, but I am puzzled because it doesn't seem to be working. The setting is HKCU.Software.Wine.Direct3D.VideoMemorySize I set this to a string value of 128 which is the size in MB of my video memory. Have it set it to the wrong value type? Should the string value have been enclosed in quotes? I am on UBUNTU 10.04 running wine

I must be missing something. SimCity4 insists on having the play disk in the CD drive and claims it can't see it. I did a full install from the drive and it saw it fine until it came time to run the program. As soon as the .exe started to load, it claimed it could not see the drive. The drive just happens to be a blu-ray dvdrw, but Linux has one of its personalities as /dev/cdrom linked to
