Hmisc improveProb() function
...ences in the classification of both models? is the index value the actual percentage of improvement? Could this be negative if there was actually no improvement? This one might be more related to the Pencina et al article and to my non-statistics background, but how are the # of events moving and nonevents moving up and down defined? does one have to specify a probability value cutoff for classification? Thanks for your help, Dave _________________________________________________________________ [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Survival Analysis Daily Time-Varying Covariate but Event Time Unknown
Help! I am unsure if I can analyze data from the following experiment. Fish were placed in a tank at (t=0) Measurements of Carbon Dioxide were taken each day for 120 days (t=0,...120) A few fish were then randomly pulled out of the tank at different days, killed and examined for the presence of a disease T= time of examination in days from start (i.e. 85th day), E = 0/1 for nonevent/event My

bootstrap estimates for lme
Dear listers, I would like to get the bootstrap estimates form my lme model. I have an HLM (multillevel) 2-level model with the dichotomous outcome. I used glmmPQL procedure. However I have a problem since I have a rather unbalanced proportion (90-99% of events, i.e. ones and only 1-10% of nonevents - zeros) although sample sizes are not that small between 500 and 1000 I get pretty weird and large SE. Nothing really surprising considering the facts - therefore one of the solutions would be to get the bootstrap estimates of the SE. How could that be acheived? I checked the boot command in t...

flac/metaflac 32/64 Universal OS X builds
I've just finished an Xcode 3.1 project file for flac and metaflac that builds both tools as 32/64 bit universal binaries. If anyone is interested in either the binaries or the project, I'll be happy to share them. Stephen

moving average on irregular time series
Hi all, I wonder if there is any way to calculate a moving average on an irregular time series, or use the rollapply function in zoo? I have a set of dates where I want to check if there has been an event 14 days prior to each time point in order to mark these timepoints for removal, and can't figure out a good way to do it. Many thanks in advance! Gustaf Example data:
