EXT3 crash?!
...crazy, and
all this was scrolling in my messges file. From remove, I could not
reboot the box. It hung and totally froze up on anything that needed to
access the below filesystem. A hardboot was the only way to get the
system back up and running.

rsync default handling of permissions
The handling of permissions in rsync (2.5.2) is nasty or
broken.
(tested platforms: Linux 2.4.x and Solaris 7)
We have a directory which should only accessible to a
group of users (test) :
[sn@noname test]$ ls -lda /home/test
drwxrws--- 2 root test 4096 Feb 13 15:44 /home/test
Every user has an umask of 007 and his/her own default group:
[sn@noname sn]$ id
uid=500(sn) gid=500(sn) groups=500(sn),5001(test)
Files and directory are created in the right way:

First, many thanks for your great work.
Don't know if it's the good way to post .... But I want to give you a
good information ( and also good for me).
I try to make an usb bootable SystemrescueCd (www.sysrescd.org) on a
new 2Gb Usb Key (noname, UT163 controller from USBest) and it was
impossible with syslinux 3.31 release ( using win32 version
syslinux.exe). The syslinux command seemed to be ok (no error message,
ldlinux.sys file created on usb stick)... but impossible to boot from

Problems with dri/drm using Radeon 7000 VE in -stable

Kernel reports drm seems to be there:

I think you just misunderstood the concept of Samba...
You can indeed you samba to make both task... Just join your samba box to
AD and be happy.

Perfomance tuning for NIS client
...red that latency involved but still I'm not statisfied, is
there any tunable parameter that I can set on linux box to somehow improve
the performance?
I also noticed things that I'm not sure if this is default on linux nis
bindings:

The name-noname distinction still seems artificial to me. I assume it is being
driven by efficiency considerations: i.e. not allowing named types to be refined
simplifies LLVM's internals considerably.

ports/55928: vmware2 broken on -STABLE, presumably by PAE import
...atch makes VmWare2 build, but it doesn't make it work:
- VmWare fails to allocate memory (see
