Noise suppression less than AGC gain
Hi,
I've had a small case with noise suppression and AGC. I have a fairly
noisy environment here, and with the default parameters, noise
suppression works fairly well while I talk. However, when I shut up, AGC
starts slowly increasing the gain until it has amplified whatever noise
is left to levels about equal to having no filtering at all. As soon as
I talk, AGC backs down fairly quick

Noise Cancellation of Server Noise
Has anyone come across a device that could cancel out the noise from servers, ie. the fan noise? I have a server rack near my office and would like to see if i can decrease the noise level. It would seem to me that the steady drone of the fans could be cancelled out to a large extent.

speex_denoise on non-microphone noise (static ?)
Hi,
I'm not sure how speex_denoise() works, but my solution to this problem
is fairly straightforward and works well in practice (in a simple VoIP
program.) Note that I am also an amateur and am making up some
terminology here... but I've tested my approach on several noisy
environments with low-quality mics and it does work well.
Problem: There's usually annoying noise present

Denoise causing drain pipe effect in audio
Hi Jean
Thanks for the reply.
We expect to use the codec in an environment where we expect very high
background noise where high noise suppression will be needed. In a
situation like a soccer match.
Is there a way of retaining high noise suppression and still getting
better audio quality. Your pointers will be of great help.
Thanks,
Gurinder

speex_denoise on non-microphone noise (static ?)
That's might be speex_denoise() is trying to do already, based on the
fact that if noise is present in speech signal, the former gets
suppressed to a certain extend. Also, I noticed after suppression, the
short, noisy attack - speex_denoise() have to be doing some kind of
profiling.
I've looked at a few offline denoise() solutions. They all involve
profile building.

speex 1.2beta1 encoding/decoding clicking noise on WM2003
I am running speex 1.2beta1 on WM2003 using FIXED_POINT option, I got big
clicking noise during encoding or decoding randomly, I got more noise if I
spoke louder or made the MIC sensitivity higher, for example, when I encode
the wav file to spx file, the original saved wav file does not have such
noise, the noise is added only after it's converted to spx format. The
floating point version of

speex_denoise on non-microphone noise (static ?)
I'm not sure you'd have much success in trying to make a generic profile
to fit the "typical noisy PC" since PC configurations vary so much.
Consider an integrated AC97 codec vs. the mic input on an SB Live!/Audigy
Live!Drive, or whether or not the input from the CD-ROM audio is muted,
or what noisy devices might be situated near the mic. It's nice
to be able to get

Scatterplot and Causality
Dear All,
I hope this is not too off topic.
I am given a set of scatteplots (nothing too fancy; think about a
normal x-y 2D plot).
I do not deal with two time series (indeed I have no info about time).
If I call A=(A1,A2,...) and B=(B1, B2, ...) the 2 variables (two
vectors of numbers most of the case, but sometimes they can be
categorical variables), I can plot one against the other and I

Adding Noise or background noise
Hi,
In my dial plan I've configured two trunks to make outbound calls (trunk1
and trunk2) to same service provider but I want when any of my exten starts
with _2. should goto trunk2 and there should be some kind of disturbance
(like some noise or some background noise) when my calls goes to trunk2 to
make the call quality bad. Mainly I want to achieve bad call quality on
trunk2 by adding

speex 1.2beta1 encoding/decoding clicking noise on WM2003
Would it help if I scale the input wav data before encoding to spx? One interesting thing is if I encode the same wav file to spx(or decode the same spx file to wav ) on Windows platform, then there is no such big clicking noise, samething is true if I use floating_point speex library to encode/decode on WM2003. Problem happens only on WM2003 using FIXED_POINT library.
Thanks

static noise with this hardware any advice
Hi
We have static noise problem on our asterisk server. latest stable release.
The card is a new TDM04B
We have it installed on the following hardware
Motherboard Intel SE7520BD2SCSI
2x POWER SUPPLY 730W INTEL
I will not mention the other hardware because we have desactivated/changed
all the other items
The only 2 items that we have not changed is the mobo and the power supply.
At first it

wow, $9100 for the 38U rack. thats pricey... and that's before PDUs,
UPS, and all that other important rack mount stuff.

noise gate for asterisk?
Hi list,
I have a client with a strange requirement: putting a noise gate on the
Asterisk channel. For those who are not familiar with them, noise gates
are used in musical instruments to avoid entering low-level noise into the
amp system. What they basically do is, they measure the volume of the
channel, and when it's too low they just let the channel close, i.e send
perfect silence,

Background Noise Elimination
...for good panels?
We are using Plantronics noise canceling headsets, which don't really
seem to work all that well. Our ancient system handled noise much
better, but I suspect that was partly due to the Dialogic ADPCM
algorithm used that just reduced the intelligibility of lower volume
noises in general. We are using PCMU direct from the agent's mic to
through Asterisk to PRIs, so we don't "suffer" from compression
artifacts. The down side, is that you can make out even very quiet
conversations in the background (like 3 agents to one side.)
How have people handl...

Noise on FXS ports (Sangoma)
Hi:
I have a Sangoma A200 card installed in a server with two FXO modules
and one FXS module.
Analog sets connected to the FXS module have a "squeaky static" -- it's
like static mixed with the sound of someone vigorously cleaning a window
a few doors down.
In other words, it's not a classic static noise, but it is noise, and
it's distracting. Remote callers can hear this

Very loud noise on TDM400
I am having a problem with and Asterisk installation where two ports
connected to a TDM400 card will have a very loud noise when you try to
dial. The server has an OpenVox D110P, a TDM04B and a Xorcom Astribank
8 fxs. It is running Zaptel 1.4.11 and Asterisk 1.4.18.
The problem always happens with two ports (34 and 35) which are
connected to two GSM gateways. They will work fine for a week

TDM400P noise?
Hi all. I bought Digium's dev kit and a used IBM PL300 PC to try it out
in. The X100P works fine, but with the TDM400P I get what I can best
describe as 'interrupt noise'... noise whenever I type a key on the
keyboard, or when something accesses the disk drive, uses cpu, etc.
In my other PC it works fine, no noise and sounds great. But I cannot
dedicate the other PC to it.
