fail2ban behavior
I created a filter and verified it with fail2ban-regex against actual lines in my log and it works. During restarts of fail2ban, only some previous ip's get banned immediately whereas some need a reoccurrence despite the jail's config specification of maxretry and findtime suggesting the entries mandate blocking. I'd assume the behavior after a restart is noe way if it weren't for

Backup of the 5 last revisions of files
Hallo! I am running rsync-2.6.2-1.fc2.0 on fedora 2 server. I use incremental backup with rsync, and I have 7 folders that are rotated on a daily basis. At the moment I run backup only one time each day. /home-area on my server uses 18G, and all the 7 backups together fill up 19G on my usb-disk, so I think my script works okay. It looks like this: rsync -verbose -progres -a

CentOS 6.5 install
Hello, I'm a newbie so here's my question. I'm trying to install CentOS 6.5 on a HP Proliant 350e server. This server has 4x 1TB hard drives. I'd like to enable the hardware RAID 5 and stripe all 4 disk into one 3TB logical volume. Then install CentOS on the 3TB volume. However after I install I can't get the server to boot. I know about the MDOS vs GPT labeling issue.

MP3/Vorbis/Opus: What I think I hear
Hi! Sorry, I know the rules for comparing objective subjective listening impressions, but I'd like to know whether from the algorithmic or implementer's point of view the following personal impressions can be confirmed: Comparing MP3 with Vorbis at rather high bitrates, I had the impression the Vorbis sounded more crispy, while MP3 sounded somewhat softened. I preferred Vorbis for that

[LLVMdev] llvm (hence Clang) not compiling with Visual Studio 2008
Hello, I have just updated my svn copy of the llvm/clang repositories after quite a long time of inactivity, and found it not compiling on Windows with Visual Studio 2008. The incriminated file is: llvm/lib/MC/MCModule.cpp Where several calls to "std::lower_bound" are made, like: atom_iterator I = std::lower_bound(atom_begin(), atom_end(),

g711 ulaw vs alaw
Hi All, Can someone explain to me the difference between g711's ulaw and alaw codecs? Is it just different header info or is the actual payload in each encoded differently? I have thus far noe been able to find any difinative information onthe matter. All I've managed to find out that they are "similar", they sound the same and that it doesn't matter which you use. Could

Apache2.2 + Mongrel: what do you think about these perfs?
Hi all, I''ve been spending quite a lot of time trying to install a decent RoR server on my dedicated server (Ubuntu 6.06 LTS), and now, everything works. However, the performances are not really what I had expected... I would like to know what you think about it. Here is my config: 2GHz VIA proc, 1Gb RAM, SATA-II HD. I have apt-got ruby 1.8.4, mysql5 and installed rails 1.1.4 by

Re gression by groups questions
I have a large dataset grouped by a factor and I want to perform a regression on each data subset based on this factor. There are many ways to do this, posted here and elsewhere. I have tried several. However I found one method posted on the R wiki which works exactly as I want, and I like the elegance and simplicity of the solution, but I don't understand how it works. Its all in the formula

[LLVMdev] [cfe-dev] llvm (hence Clang) not compiling withVisual Studio 2008
There is some historical precedence for fixing the problem with VS lower_bound by changing the LLVM source - when I first got LLVM to compile with Visual Studio, patches for unsymmetric operator < were accepted into the LLVM repo, and I believe it's been done several times after that as well. m. >From: Ahmed Bougacha >Sent: Friday, July 05, 2013 1:43 AM >To: Benoit Perrot

How to trigger an action from script/console
Hi, I have build a conversion script from an old database to a new one (which is designed to work with ROR), and every action converts one table and takes over 5 minutes... When I trigger the actions from my browser, I finally end up with a "Failed to start properly"... So, simple question: How can I do this from the console, that is to say, trigger one of my controller''s
