Repeating tdt function on thousands of variables
...s on SNP data from a cohort of trios. I now have a file with about 6008 variables. The first few variables related to the pedigree data such as the pedigree ID the person ID etc. Thereafter each variable is a specific locus or marker. The variables are named by a pattern such as "Genotype.nnnnn" with nnnnn corresponding to a number which is the name or id of the locus. I am able to get the tdt to run by each locus. >tdt(Genotype.914186, PGWide, famid, pid, fatid, motid, sex, affected ) Clearly I cannot type each locus in one at a time. Instead I want to loop it but am not sur...

64bit R for Mac
Dear R gurus, On the CRAN website, it says that a 64bit version for Mac OS Tiger would be release shortly. Do we know what are the expected dates? Will the packages be also compiled for 64bit? We are running large microarray analysis and we keep hitting the 3Gb memory limit. I saw that there is a version available on the development mirrors, but I am not too excited to replace our very stable

Has Many Through + Join Model + Forms + Confused?
...o this? I was hoping to be able to put in, say, 6 (where you can have 6 metals) select boxes, each listing all the metals, and have 6 text fields to allow the user to type in the percentage of each. Just as a start, i tried to do something like: <%= select(''alloy'', ''NNNNN'', Metal.find(:all, :order => "name").map {|v| [ v.name, v.id]}) %> where NNNNN is any number of things i''ve tried, all of which give me a "NoMethodError in Alloys#new" error. Am I on the fringes of rails? Or am I so newb it hurts? Any help would be a...

Moving Rterm.exe to another location
...R running - this slows the system. One solution would be to kill any open versions of Rterm.exe each time the application terminates. But, that would affect other legitimate copies of Rterm. The solution to that problem is simple. Instead of running Rterm.exe, I copy Rterm.exe to Rterm-nnnnn.exe, execute that version, then when the job is complete, I can specifically terminate that version using Window's taskkill command. Unfortunately, I just encountered a new problem. If the R folder has restricted privileges, it appears that I cannot copy Rterm.exe to the same folder....

Small problem with src/lib/mountpoint.c [now with patch attached!]
Greetings - [SIGH: I hit the "Send" button instead of "Attach". Here's Take 2...] Whilst playing with getting quotas from NFS-mounted filestores I've just discovered a slight problem with src/lib/mountpoint.c I had things working on a Solaris 10 test machine which had the mailstore mounted 'normally' using an entry in /etc/vfstab. However when I changed

Shorewall 2.0.2a
This bugfix release corrects two problems: a) Temporary restore files were not being removed from /var/lib/shorewall. These files have names of the form ''restore-nnnnn''. You can remove files that have accumulated with the command: rm -f /var/lib/shorewall/restore-[0-9]* b) The restore script did not load kernel modules. The result was that after a cold load, applications like FTP and IRC DCC didn''t work. To correct: 1) Install 2.0.2a 2)...

minimial maildir++ quota for dovecot-0.99
Hello, I'm using dovecot-0.99.14, and I wonder if anyone has created patch for *minimal* Maildir++ support. By minimal Maildir++ support, I mean the following: (1) New messages created by dovecot will include the ,S=nnnnn string in the unique identifier so that Maildir++ clients don't have to stat the file to know the size. (2) Dovecot will append to the maildirsize file when a message is deleted or added. If maildirsize gets larger than the 5120 limit, then just delete it and let someone else recalculate the q...

Problems and questions with setting up a Feature Group D trunk to a Nortel DMS-10 switch
I currrently have Asterisk 1.2.8 with a TE110P Zaptel card tied to our Nortal DMS-10 switch via T1. This T1 trunk is configured for Feature Group D MF. The purpose of this is for LD delivery to a VoIP LD provider as a LD choice for our customers off of the DMS-10. When I sieze a channel on the zaptel, I get a spill of digits from the switch that is the called number, and I can see that in

OSX: trying to use libvirt 1.1.0 with VirtualBox 4.2
...box 4.2, but I'm having problems getting it to work in OSX. I have built it using homebrew, which now has 1.1.0 in its formulae. The error I get when tying to connect is shown below. Any suggestions for where I should look next? The error about "Failed to find user record for uid 'NNNNN'" is odd. libvirtd *is* started automatically, and runs as my own userid (brian, id 502). Each time libvirtd times out, and restarts again, it shows a different uid in this error message. Thanks, Brian. Brians-MacBook-Air:~ $ virsh -c vbox:///session list error: failed to connect to...
