Debugging system load - How to start?
Hi, we run an "old" mailserver system which was set up a couple of years ago. The systme dose "everything" what we need(ed). Over the last days I noticed an unnormal increase of the system load up to 10 and lots of users told me that there mailclient connections (sending and receiving) are dropped from time to time. I was planing to exchange the server respectively distribut

Finding i/o bottleneck
Hi list ! We have a very busy webserver hosted in a clustered environment where the document root and data is on a GFS2 partition off a fiber-attached disk array. Now on busy moments, I can see in htop, nmon that there is a fair percentage of cpu that is waiting for I/O. In nmon, I can spot that the most busy block device correspond to our gfs2 partition where many times, it shows that it's 100% busy and is read all along. Now, I want to know what files are being waited for. With lsof I can get...

Subsetting a data.frame degenerates at one column?
Greetings. At the moment, I'm applying R to some AIX 'nmon' output, trying to get a handle on some disk performance metrics. In case anyone's interested: http://docs.osg.ufl.edu/tsm/pdf/ some of them are more edifying than others. (ahem) I'm trying to develop a somewhat general framework for plotting these measures, in the hopes that it'...

Correlate i/o with a process
Hello: I have a server with 2 HBAs, and the users keeps complaining about performance problems. My question is, how can I relate the process with high I/O wait? Also, is it possible to see how much data is being pushed thru by my 2 HBAs? TIA! -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Load at 5, no CPU I/O or swap in use
We are currently running CentOS 5 update 4 on a Dell R910 server 16 cores/32 hyperthreaded with 64GB of memory. It is our main Oracle 11g DB server for one of our customers and is attached to an MD 3000 storage array. We are having a load averaging around 5 but see no swap in use, CPUs are pretty much idle and no I/O wait. We have Oracle dataguard turned on in transactional mode. I've checked

High load
Hi Is there a way to nail down the issue of high load on a server basically trying to understand the reason behind high load at a specific time period. I use top command but it does not have history. Nagios reports saying "*[04-25-2012 10:11:00] SERVICE ALERT: dev;LOAD;WARNING;HARD;3;WARNING - load average: 6.88, 6.36, 5.71"* * * Please help me understand. Regards Kaushal

Limit Asterisk
people I have a running Asterisk 1.8.28 in great Dell server with two xeon processors and 16gb of ram and HD SAS 15k (Raid 1). This server is recording all calls (placed to record the audio in a ram disk), the entire CDR goes straight to MySQL by cdr_mysql.so. Each call runs some validation and AGI's have an auto dialer system that generates calls over the manager. Calls originate and

Memory usage bar plot
Hi, I haven't tried the code yet. Is there a way to parse this data using R and create bar plots so that each program's 'RAM used' figures are grouped together. So 'uuidd' bars will be together. The data will have about 50 sets. So if there are 100 processes each will have about 50 bars. What is the recommended way to graph these big barplots ? I am looking
