Hello all,
I'm running samba 2.2.4 on Sun Solaris version Sunos 5.8
generic_108528-17, Samba version 2.2.4
I'm getting this error in my /var/adm/messages and don't know what it
means, I suspect it is also responsible for causing the delays in the
application running from the shares.

Can't connect after Ubuntu 18.04.1 Upgrade???
Thanks for the replys...
Just a basic samba server...being accessed by windows 7 to the gc and tmr shares with \\10.10.171.9\gc and \\10.10.171.9\tmr
This has been running for a year without any issues...till the update yesterday afternoon :-(
The file server is Ubuntu 18.04 and there was an update to Ubuntu 18.04.1, which I thought would be a mild step.
The current version of samba is...

Samba / Windows workgroup master browser problem
I admit theres a LOT about the windows networking I dont understand -
and even though this may NOT be a SAMBA issue per se, I thought I'd post
it here.
Have a 400gb samba server thats been working well (am upgrading to
current patches today, btw).
I've got 3 Win2k workstations, on two subnets, that have drives mapped,
and connect every morning on startup just fine. All the machines

recurring samba error
I am getting a recurring error written to the consol of my Solaris 7 system
running Samba. It would be a great help if someone knows what may be
causing this.

I installed samba 2.0.9 on Alpha server TRU64 unix 4.0F. But I cannot configure --with-dfs because this Tru64 unix was installing chosed filesystem type UFS filesystem. but I used ./configure command and make and make install.
I installed ADVFS file system 2 days ago samba 2.2.2 on TRU64 unix. but I don't live a problem. all services were running.

smbd & rpc.mountd eating up all the cpu
Hello,
Don't know what happened, but Samba stopped serving up shares. Top shows
'smbd' using 66% of the cpu and 'rpc.mountd' using 33%. The samba log on
shows;

I have a server which we use for backing up files.
Noticed there was an upgrade available to 18.04.1.
Now I cannot connect to from my win7 machine to the Ubuntu share.
Any thoughts on what would have changed???

Problem with network browsing
I'm trying to diagnose why my windows 10 clients can't do network browsing.
The network neighborhood doesn't show any of my machines running samba.
I've verified that all of my samba hosts are running nmbd!
I've reached the end of my ability to debug this, so I could really use
some help from the list to figure out why this isn't working.
I've isolated the situation

Problem with network browsing
SMBv1 (the anonymous thing behind network neighborhood) because of the massive
security problems it caused was decprecated. Microsoft came up with network
neighborhood and they've shut it down due to their bad implementation.
Samba, likewise, doesn't support SMBv1 by default.

Problem with network browsing
If you have 1 member server, you could enabe nmbd in that server.
Or install : llmnrd on linux and/or avahi-deamon if you dont have a member.
And make sure you can use "proxy dns" as in,
The primary DNS domain on linux should match (see in windows) CMD: ipconfig /all
The :
- primay dns suffix
- DNS Suffix search order
Then you are able to use \\hostname or \\hostname.FQ.DN.TLD

why is my "nmbd" confused about network interfaces?
The only thing related to 'addresses' in my
/etc/samba/smb.conf file is a "hosts allow":
hosts allow = 192.168.3.0/24 127.1
I'm going to ignore the 'local hosts case, as if I solve the other,
the localhost case may get solved by inference.
I thought the 'hosts allow' would allow any host on the
local 192.168.3.0/24 subnet.
The hosts have no problems

nmbd keeps trying to contact IP Address on wrong network
Looking for a solution to this problem. I have Googled all over the
place but haven't found a definitive answer.
I have a Samba Server that ONCE was on a network where there was SECOND
Samba Server with IP Address 192.168.20.3. Today, the FIRST server is
on a network with an address range 10.0.0.0/255.255.255.0 and it has no
way of finding that SECOND Server 192.168.20.3. However,

A reasonable alternative is to run Christgau's excellent Web Service Discovery host daemon (wsdd) on the samba server and make sure
the Function Discovery Provider Host and Function Discovery Resource Publication services are running on the Windows 10 machines.
Get wsdd from here: https://github.com/christgau/wsdd.git
You can then stop and disable the nmbd on the samba machines as it's
