Our log.nmb file fills up very quickly with the following pattern of messages: [2000/06/19 05:10:59, 0] nmbd/nmbd_namequery.c:query_name_response(93) query_name_response: Multiple (2) responses received for a query on subnet 129.130.10.136 for name NT.CIS.KSU.EDU<1d>. This response was from IP 129.130.10.24 [2000/06/19 05:10:59, 0] nmbd/nmbd_namequery.c:query_name_response(93) query_name_response: Multiple (3) responses received for a query on subnet 129.130.10.136 for name NT.CIS.KSU.EDU<1d>. This response was from IP 129.130.10.24 [2000/06/19 05:10:59, 0] nmbd/nmbd_namequery.c:query_name_response(93) query_name_response: Multiple (4) responses received for a query on subnet 129.130.10.136 for name NT.CIS.KSU.EDU<1d>. This response was from IP 129.130.10.24 [2000/06/19 05:10:59, 0] nmbd/nmbd_namequery.c:query_name_response(93) query_name_response: Multiple (5) responses received for a query on subnet 129.130.10.136 for name NT.CIS.KSU.EDU<1d>. This response was from IP 129.130.10.24 Notice that the number of responses grows from (2) to (5). This particular host in fact has 5 interfaces. Samba is only configured to use one of the interfaces. My questions: Is this error significant? Does it affect performance? Is there anything I can do about it? Other than editing the source to get rid of the error? I'm not familiar with WINS... is the problem on the NT server or the Samba server? Any questions I'm forgetting? :) Thanks for your time. -- Steve Feehan Phone: 785-532-6350x44 System Administrator Fax: 785-532-7533 Computing and Information Science ICQ: 9751775 Kansas State University http://www.cis.ksu.edu/~steve/
