AJAX Drag and Drop Detecting Drop Coordinates
This one''s kicking me in the *(&#^. All I want to do is create a draggable
item and then detect the coordinates where it is dropped. So my first
approach was to just use the draggable_element with :revert => false, like
so:
<%= draggable_element "my_element", :revert => false %>
That works great and lets me drag stuff all over the place. In the
scriptaculous

GlusterFS mounted home directories
Just want to let everyone know that with a couple of all-nighters I was able
to replace my NFS mounted home directories with GlusterFS replicated across
two servers.
A couple of things I learned:
Server side AFR doesn't work right. Not sure if I really care. It would have
been nice to use the bonded Gigabit connection between the servers to do the
mirro...

Migrating Samba PDC to new machine (with different name)
The machine we are currently using as our existing PDC is getting old
and tired, so we have built a new machine and are attempting to migrate
users across to the new machine. However, since there can only be one
PDC on a network, this involves an "all nighter" moving users profiles
across to the new machine and then cranking it up as the PDC.
Everything appeared to go well until we started up the first bunch of
machines using the new machine as the PDC and got the following Error
Message.
"The system cannot log you on to the domain because...

VSftp, ssl/tls, slight issue with directory listings
...l.
I can find no solution yet, has anyone out there secured their vsftp
server and wanna throw me a bone?
Only this and two other things prevent me from throwing out a nice video
tutorial of how to go from a stock install to a fully armed and
operational webserver, ssl everywhere, etc....
all nighter and no where with this one. At least not yet.

Success - Rails, FastCGI, and IIS / Windows Server
...fcgi.rb and fcgi.so from Ruby for Apache:
http://rubyforge.org/frs/download.php/2198/RubyForApache-beta2.exe
It appears to be stable. I haven''t had a chance to stress
test it yet but so far I have not seen anything odd like
rubyw processes multiplying without limit.
It took an all-nighter and more than once my stack of ASP.Net
books started looky mighty attractive.

Dovecot Authentication Problem (REVISED)
Hello List,
I am back again and I think I am edging closer to getting a solution.
I have done some modifications and now dovecot gives me a different
error message than before....
Here is what I have for the password_query and user_query
password_query = SELECT popbox.cleartext AS password FROM popbox, domain \
WHERE popbox.local_part = 'eddie' AND popbox.domain_name =

Design changes are done in Fedora
...(Yes, I tested it, several times. I even gave VS a handicap by running its host OS under VMware. It?s actually a double-handicap, since much of VS is written in .NET these days!)
Once the Eclipse beast finally stumbles into wakefulness, it?s as surly and slow to move as a teenager after an all-nighter. I can actually see the delay in pulling down menus, for Ritchie?s sake. *Menus*. In *2015*. Until Java came along, I thought slow menu bars were an historical artifact even less likely to make a reappearance than Classic Mac OS.
It isn?t just Eclipse that does this. Another Java-based tool I...

Memory Leak in 2.2.6rc2??
We upgraded to 2.2.6rc2 yesterday to continue our resolving of the printer
driver problems. (Thanks Jerry & Rohin) For unrelated reasons I wanted to
log into the machine late last night and found Putty couldn't connect.
When I get in this morning the server was completely hooped with Out of
Memory errors on the screen with SMBD as the offending process. Trying to
log into any console

Setup a Samba AD DC as an additional DC
Apologies for not replying to the thread, I just subscribed to the list,
after a day of troubleshooting this.
Regarding:

I am experiencing the same symptoms, in a simpler environment than the
original submitter at the previous thread:

When someone helps you, at least let them know if the problem is resolved or not
I'll keep this brief because I don't want to come across like any more of an
a$$ than I absolutely have to, especially since I know I've blown my stack
before.....
Gentlemen (and Ladies, if you're out there),
If someone gives you advice on this list, and ESPECIALLY if they give you
advice offlist, have the courtesy to (AT THE LEAST) to let them know when/if

iPhone distorted audio
I'm not sure if anyone is experienced with this but i'm having very strange issues with implementing speex in my iOS application.
I have written a encode and decode function basically exactly like the example files online. To process audio I am using an iOS VoiceProcessingIO Audio Unit which is set at 16bit pcm with 8000 sample rate. After buffering 320 bytes of PCM audio I feed it into
