esfq experience anyone?
...ass with esfq qdisc at the end. Did anyone tried it, and more important, did it worked the way it is supposed to? As of my experience, I saw several connections matched right against the filters and put into the correct class, but the bandwidth management wasn''t even remotely fair. TIA, Nickola

smbpasswd vs passwd to change
Not sure if someone here can answer this for me. The OpenLDAP guys have blown me off on this one. I have a standalone server which is using ldap as the passdb backend. I can ssh into an account. I can show that "smbclient works -L localhost -U ldaptestuser" works. If I change the password using smbpasswd both still work with new password. If i change the password using

Can I Classify Non-IP Traffic?
Background: Thanks to the LARTC howto, this list and Stef Coene''s and devik''s excellent web sites I now have an ethernet bridge (patch bridge-nf.0.0.7) happily prioritising traffic (12Mbit) into 10 queues (9 for IP and 1 for non-IP) using a combination of iptables (fwmark) and htb3 and sfq. Many thanks. At the moment I''m filtering all non-IP traffic by setting the

u32 hash-es ?
hi I would like to ask is the following config correct for what I want to achieve ... Scenario: I have 3 networks 192.168.12.0/24, 192.168.48.0/24, 192.168.56.0/24 and most of the users use 1 IP, some of them more... If I make flat u32-filter search the box will make aprox/max 3 * 256 = 768 checks for every IP, so i''m deciding to deploy u32 hashes.. Here is the config I think to use

broadcast over gre tunnel?
Hello, I connected the network 192.168.1.0 with 192.168.2.0 over the internet trough a GRE-Tunnel. I don''t know if I set up all things right: The client-pcs in both networks have a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 and 192.168.2.x''s default gateway is the server wich has started the tunnel. The 192.168.1.x''s default gateway is 192.168.1.250 wich routes traffic destinated to

Compile error "iproute2"
Hi, I am trying to compile "iproute2" (iproute2-2.4.7-now-ss020116-try.tar.gz, inclusively the latest HTB patch, activated diffserv components) on a SuSE-Linux 8.2 system (using "gcc 3.3", system based on "glibc 2.3.2"). It is no problem as long as I use the kernel header files of linux-2.4.20 (vanilla), linux-2.4.20.SuSE (special kernel patched by SuSE, shipped

Hardware Configuration Ideas
Hey guys, I am planning to buy some components for a Linux router that will handle the Internet access of 200 computers (includes tc shaping) and some inter sub-network routing (at least 100MBps per eth - and there are 3 eth cards). I was thinking of a: Pentium 4 - 3GHz 256 or 512MB RAM Network Cards. Now - I wonder what is more important: the processor speed or the amount of RAM. And can you

Hi! I''m trying to limit the uplink bandwidth using htb but no packets are overlimit or dropped. :-( My router config: * Linux kernel 2.4.20-pre10 (htb v3.7) with everything built as modules in QoS, iptables in use. * tc binary from htb3.6-020525.tgz * external interface eth0: Internet access, 512 kbit/s uplink speed * internal interface eth1: internal LAN, 100 Mbit/s The hosts in the

HFSC Advanced Limiting
I am investigating changing our broadband bandwidth control scripts over to HFSC. What I would like to accomplish is this: { * DOWNLOAD * I need a download class for each user (we''ll call it Class 1) that offers a minimum of lets say 384Kbps and a maximum of 1.5Mbps. The rates between 384Kbps and 1.5Mbps should be shared among all users. Each user should always be able to get at

NUT with Geekworm x728 UPS Hat on RPi?
I searched the forum from the website and didn’t get any hits, so I thought I’d ask here. I have an RPi 4B running Home Assistant. It has the NUT integration, and I have a Geekworm X728 UPS Hat installed. It has an I2C interface for reading data. https://raspberrypiwiki.com/X728-Software I was wondering if NUT supports that?
