SWAT is working but shows smbd/nmbd: not running
Hi all,
I had nForce3 motherboard that has broken. Than I bought nForce4
motherboard. I connected old hard disk to this new nForce4 motherboard. For
net and sound support I download drivers from nvidia.com site. This driver
asks kernel source to be on local disk and gcc compiler.
After I installed kernel source and...

Network stops responding after some time
Hi there,
I''m using the Suse Enterprise 10 RC2 along with Xen 3.0.2 on X86-64 and I''m experiencing a problem with the network.
I boot into the Xen kernel and everything works just fine. I can browse the net etc.
However after a while the network stops responding completely. I am not sure what causes this to happen or what triggers it. After a few hours, the network just stops

all the low-latency stuff turned on, and the same kernel with it all
turned off (2.6.16-rc2) doesn't appear to make any difference either.
I'm not sure what else to try, any input would be appreciated.

FATAL: Could not open /lib/modules/2.6.18.8-xen0/modules.dep
Hi,
i tried a complete new installation with Debian 5.0.0 Lenny. Standard
Installation works fine, Xen Install from Sources also. But after reboot
the startup stops with the kernel panic, that it doesn''t find the
modules folder....
its an Asrock AM2NF3-VSTA Board with nForce3 250 chipset, and the HDD is
on Sata
I compiled my own kernel, and tried with the AMD and Nvidia IDE Driver
and SCSI Driver is activated too, but the is still a kernel panic....

unexpected mass closing of terminal windows
...Just plain disappeared. Everything else,
including the emacs copy started from one of those terminals, is running
fine.
It's a frustrating thing to see happen! Has anyone else experienced this?
This is in the gnome desktop, x86-64 install, all the latest updates from
yum. The machine is a nforce3 board with 1 gig of ram, Athlon64, sata
drive, and NFS mounted home directories.
Thanks,
Brian

In all cases, it freezes X solid (kill -9 won't even take it out), thereby

Memory and other settings for xen server, help needed....
Hi all,
i have a question. I''m going to setup a Xen server for a client.
It''s going to serve about 25 clients.
It''s a Athlon 64 3200+, which currently runs Debian i386-stable and xen
2.0.7
until Xen 3.0 is stable enough, and then i''m gonna replace it with
Debian amd64-stable and Xen 3.0.
The Xen dom''s consists of:

very strange behaviour of ultima online.
...the part where i got really messy,
because i thought maybe it is of some network-linux issue)
So I thought maybe its the network card. or the kernel. reinstalled the kernel
with --reinstall and after that, still nothing, i changed my network card to
a completely different one (other driver too, nforce3 onboard), still
nothing.
nvidia was next. we know its closed source, so maybe glx or randr or xcompiz
has some issue. so i started x11 with blank nv drivers. guess what. nope.
the next thing i began was to reinstall various libraries. since i cant purge
everything, i really tried hard to purge...

Opteron Mobo Suggestions
I've been planning to build a dual Opteron server for awhile. I'd like
to get people's suggestions on a suitable motherboard.
I've looked at the Tyan K8SE (S2892) and K8SRE (S2891) but would like to
find more Linux-specific experiences with these boards.
Some features I expect are at least 4 SATA (SATA-300?) ports, serial
console support in the BIOS, USB 2.0 and IEEE-1394
