Http links not active in a windows newsreader
Hello,
I'm using Wine 1.1.41 and the Windows newsreader "40tude Dialog", with Mandriva 2010.0.
If in Dialog I click a "mailto:" link, everything is OK, Kmail opens a message.
If I click an http link, nothing happens.
So, I launched Dialog via a terminal, and here are the error messages when I click an http link :

Gmane for list?
Hi all,
I was wondering if I might subscribe this list to gmane.org, so I (and
everyone else) might view and search in with a newsreader?
Also--is there any way to get it indexed by google, maybe along with the
r-help list (or is it already but I haven't found it)?
Thanks for your consideration

Writing responses to the R-Help list
A while back Gabor Grothendieck suggested that I try
http://news.gmane.org/gmane.comp.lang.r.general. This was after I asked how
to easily reply to posts on the listserve. Ideally I would like the
functionality that I find in Microsoft Outlook Express newsreader for usenet
groups or what I find in Google Groups.
I started using gmane about 3 weeks ago. I find it fantastic for searching

I do not understand this
A few days ago there was a thread on calling R from Delphi to which
there were several useful responses. Now I responded as well, with
what I regard as a useful contribution. Shortly after that, I was not
able to able to see the thread in my newsreader (Thunderbird).
Suddenly, yesterday I could see the thread again, and now it has
vanished, at least from my sight.
Now. Is there an error

Forte Agent windowing problem
Forte Agent newsreader on Wine 1.0 on Mandriva 2008.1.
If I close Agent and then re-open it, its inner newsreader pane becomes
dislodged as a floating section in a scrollable window. The following
image (size 29k) shows what I mean. The top image is before closing and
the lower image is after re-opening.

adding syslinux mailing list to gmane.org
Hello!
I would like to add the syslinux mailing list to gmane.org so I can read
it with my newsreader (I think it is more convenient).
Is that ok?
For more information go to http://www.gmane.org/
Cheers

One executable, multiple data sources
I have an application that I am running in Wine, which is the newsreader
Agent. When I ran it in Windows, I had one executable file, but multiple
data sources, each in its own directory. This let me connect to
different news servers, for instance, or have different combinations of
newsgroups. In Windows, I could do this by creating different shortcuts,
and configuring each one to "Open

Stubbing a Kernel method?
Is it possible to stub a Kernel method? I''m specifically interested in
the ''open'' method to test some code using open-uri. I''ve tried:
Kernel.should_receive(:open).with(''filename'').and_return(''data'')
However, this doesn''t seem to work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

RFC: Potential idea to consolidate forums and lists
I'm making a request for comments in an effort to bring a minor but
nagging bug to some kind of multilaterally-beneficial conclusion, and
deliberately held off until after the 1.0 release in case this turns out
to be a bigger deal than originally anticipated.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13517
The first proposed suggestion is that a more consistent method for

No config file
I am using Wine 0.9.15 to run a newsreader called Xnews. I have found
several sites with Wine configurations for Xnews, but all of the sites
I've found refer to modifying the "$HOME/.wine/config" file. The version
of Wine I am using doesn't use a config file - it uses system.reg and
user.reg. Can I use the modifications from the older config files to

I'm using WINE (20010731) with RedHat 7.2. I'm trying to run some Windows

loads fine, but it says on the Windows app window "RPC Protocol error".
I'm wondering whether WINE supports RPC apps. Am I missing RPC support on

Newbie wants to run Forte Agent
I'm new to the list and to Wine.
I loaded wine wine-0.9.7-i486-S10.2 into Slackware 10.1 in order to run
the Forte Agent newsreader. It was setup and running under Win4lin
which I have discontinued.
What would be the syntax to load Forte Agent and specify the old
"start-in" directory used under Win4lin?
wine ./agent something_for_start-in_directory ??
Does Wine have the

I have been running Agent3.3 uner Linux debian sarge, wine

when tackling large groups like binaries or advocacy.
But the upgrade to V4 did not go well. I went back to 3.3 and managed
to reproduce under reduced conditions:

trashed files on a Samba share?
Hi.
My problem is this: my mail and newsreader, Fort? Agent, runs ok when
the server is NT but has the annoying habit of systematically trashing
its databases if the server is Samba. But not always...
If the client is 98, no problems at all. If the client is NT, then
Agent will work ok if you set "nt smb support" to "no". With this
setting, a client running 98 will fail to

Excessive Swap with MSVC++ and Wine
Prompted by Jonathan Grant's article I've been playing with running the MSVC++
command line tools under Wine. In particular I'm trying to compile and link a
large DLL - about 4M in size.
The problem is the amount of memory used by link.exe. At the moment, with 256M
of real memory and 1G of swap I quickly run out. Under Windows2000, on the
same machine, the link takes a long time
