Dovecot+Samba AD - authentication failure
Hi, I have setup samba4 as AD and hoping to have dovecot authenticate users against it. I am facing challenges though and I am unable to figure it out. I could do with a third eye to help me spot what is wrong. root at adc0:/etc# doveadm auth test -x service=imap odhiambo at newideatest.local Password: passdb: odhiambo at newideatest.local auth failed extra fields: temp Warning: auth-client: conn unix:/var/run/dovecot/auth-client: Auth connection closed with 1 pending requests (max 0 secs, pid=10537, EOF) Fatal: Couldn't connect to auth socket A test against IMAP gives the...

can't create directories/files on network share
Hey folks, I'm experiencing some weird errors all of a sudden. I have not made any changes to the config but for some reason I cannot create files/directories on my network share. An example would be the error I get when I try to update the virus signatures on my portable ClamWin install: ERROR: Can't open ..\..\..\Data\log\ClamScanLog.txt in append mode (check permissions!). ERROR:

samba's ldap
Since samba doesn't use openldap for AD DC mode, is it possible to directly read from/write to samba's LDAP from 3rd party programs? I want to ensure that I can keep user information consistent across multiple databases. -- Dan Egli >From my Test server

Odd problems making AD DC
I am experiencing a weird issue with samba when I am trying to configure it as a Domain Controller. I'm using Gentoo Linux, and after finally figuring that kdb5_util was looking for the krb5.conf file where Gentoo didn't put it, I was able to initialize the realm with kdb5_util create. But now when I try to start samba (the actual Samba process, not smb) it pulls kerberos and kerberos

32bit DC for 64bit machines?
Question, ??? Since a samba DC's main purpose is simply user authentication, is there any kind of problem with having a 32bit DC managing things for a 64bit domain? I need to share files and printers on the domain I'm setting up, and I've read all the warnings about having a separate DC vs. file/print server. I know that people say you can use a virtual machine as a separate server

Sync'ing Samba LDAP with MySQL?
Hey all. I started asking about this about a week ago, then got so sick I could hardly get out of bed. Now that I' m basically recovered(and no, it wasn't Covid, thank goodness), I want to pick up where left off. I'm about to provision the samba domain for my test setup. As long as that works, the next step is to ensure that information in Samba's LDAP database is properly

Spam learning for rspamd
I'm quite new to Dovecot, so forgive me if this is a simple question. I've got rspamd running, and it's rewriting the subject of many messages as spam even when they are not. I've moved things out of the spam folder, which I was under the impression would teach rspamd since I've connected a sieve script that is supposed to call rspamd's learning tool, but nothing is

Procmail with Dovecot
Hey folks, here's a question. I want to enable procmail for the users so that they can have their incoming messages sorted info various folders and such regardless of MUA access or web access. I know I can set procmail to deliver to a maildir, but wouldn't that screw up dovecot's indexes? If it would, what can I do to ensure that the indexes stay correct? Thanks! -- Dan Egli On my
