New libpng in c2d4u3.5 breaks many other packages
...omething to announce? > > Dirk > For a number of reasons, I have relaunched my R Ubuntu Blog. One is to give updates on installing R in Ubuntu, etc., which I have stopped doing. The other is I need to write more. I also wanted to try blogdown. You can find it here: http://rubuntu.netlify.com/ The first post is an update on the move to 3.5. The process is picking up speed. Up to 1730 packages in Xenial as I type this. As soon as they are all built and I test things, I will make the announcement. I have also added a note to the Ubuntu CRAN site to help clarify the situation....

Corrected msg about Linux Mint 19.1 install
...u bionic-cran35/ When I "saved" in Software Sources to add the additional repository, I got a malformed repository error. So I took out the "deb" bit of the line, and it was accepted. I added the key for Michael Rutter and checked it is not the second key as per http://rubuntu.netlify.com/post/changes-to-cran-ubuntu-webpage-regarding-apt-secure-key/ Then I got "The repository 'https://cloud.r-project.org/bin/linux/ubuntu bionic Release' does not have a Release file." Note no "-cran35". Turns out that Software Sources added a "bionic" so...

Fwd: Learning advanced R
I've found two problems in interpreting adv-r-master/book/build-book.r: 1. All pathes in build-book.r refer to the starting-directory "adv-r-master". However, the script build-book.r is located in the directory "book", which is located in directory "adv-r-master". Therefore, pathes starting at "." are wrong (should start at ".."). 2. Some
