Related to the new laptop question: CentOS on a netbook?
I've got a netbook, circe 2009. When I got it, not that I was wild about
ubuntu, but there was specifically an ubuntu netbook remix. Well, it's a
few years later - has anyone put CentOS (6, preferably) on a netbook, and
were there any problems?

How to load an ISO as a “CD” to satisfy “insert CD” prompt?
I am trying to run my own legal copy of Propellerhead (http://www.propellerheads.se/) Reason 2.5 through Wine on latest Ubuntu on Asus (http://www.asus.com/) netbook, which has no optical drive. When the application starts, it asks me to ?Please insert the CD?, which I thought I knew how to do because after all, I had to mount the one of the three ISOs to start the installation.
I run this

Related to the new laptop question: CentOS on a netbook?
...I had Centos 6 on it up until Centos 7 was released. Now I have Centos 7 on it.
Me too, though before Centos-7 I was running Fedora 19. Everything works,
including the dedicated fn-<some key> functions.
Mine is a dual-core Atom, so it's not quite as painfully slow as many of
the other netbooks.
I've also got an older Asus 901, originally shipped with their version of
Linux. Got tired of that hacked up and crippled linux and started trying
other distros. found that Fedora worked pretty well, back at F10, though
some things required tweaking. There was a guy (no longer recall a name)...

C6 or C7 for an old netbook
I've got an old HP Netbook, which is just fine for taking with when I'm
travelling, to check email and news. I have a very old Ubuntu
netbook-remix on it, and it really, *really* needs to be updated to
something current. I, of course, would prefer CentOS....
The question is: I see that *if* the specs I just looked up (I'm at work,
not home, where I could just turn it on, but they

netbook screen suddenly goes black
Hi all!
I'm running an up to date Centos-7 on my Acer Aspire One netbook. have
been for, well, ever since C7 was released.
Just had an event today that also happened 2 or 3 times with earlier
systems installed, but I never pursued it.
What happens is that suddenly while working away on the desktop the
display suddenly goes black... not black as in turned off, I can see
that the backlight is

'netbook' is a mostly obsolete category, they were just low power

running a cheap Acer Aspire one 722, 2gb ram, dual core 1ghz, swapped
the HDD for a SSD. it's running fedora 21 LXDE. it's fast, powerful
enough for working on the move and boots / shuts down in about 10
seconds flat.
I also had Centos7 on here before but Fedora has better support for
multimedia in my opinion.

Football Manager 2010 - resolution on netbook
Hi
I have little problem with Football Manager 2010 on my netbook MSI Wind U100+. I have Wine 1.1.39, Ubuntu 9.10 and FM works perfectly, but only in virtual desktop mode and 1024x768/1280x1024/1600x1200 resolution. My netbooks highest resolution is 1024x600 and i cant see bottom of my screen. I've tried to use netbook skin for Football Manager, but some of buttons are still out of screen. I think the reason for this is virtual desktop and 1024x768 resolution. When i emulate 1024x600 resolution, game don't want to...

Hands-on: HP Mini 110
What do you do when you already have a couple of well-received netbooks? You make another one, of course. And sure as Shadrach, HP is following up on the success of its consumer-friendly Mini 1000 and business-centric Mini 2140 netbooks (not to mention its designer-minded Mini 1000 Vivienne Tam) with the HP Mini 110. We received a unit shortly before the news broke, so...

Cisco AnyConnect Mobility Client for 32- bit CentOS 6
I have the above installed on a couple of 64-bit systems, both CentOS 6 and CentOS 7, where the client works fine.
Now, however, I have installed the 32-bit version of CentOS 6 on a netbook but I cannot get the Cisco website installer to recognize the computer/operating system, not even displaying any error message.
Does anyone have the client running on a 32-bit system? I have been told it

Problems with Acer netbook freezing on syslinux bootup
Hi!
I'm not a programmer, so I will try and be as clear as I can.
I currently have an Acer Aspire One which has issues with syslinux 4.06
When I try and make a usb bootable install key using common automated
programs under windows (Universal USB installer from Pendrivelinux, LiLi
and unetbootin), they all fail when booted on the netbook.
Now, I know it's an issue with syslinux for many

testing
Regarding the earlier mail about [xapian-core-1.2.24] /tests/api_replicate.cc
compiled under MSYS/MINGW (g++ 5.3.0).
It seems likely that the error was specific to certain g++ versions.

[OT] What file can I use to change Ubuntu 9.10 display characteristics?
This question is vaguely related to R in that I have managed to wedge
the netbook computer that I use for demonstrations of R and I would
like to know how to un-wedge it so I can continue to give lectures
about R.
I have an ASUS eee PC running the netbook-remix version of Ubuntu
9.10. The X server in 9.10 is a little different from earlier
versions in that it does not require an explicit
