lattice problems under Win2K and R-1.4.0
...much appreciated. On another note. Is anyone working on an svg graphics for R. Myself and a co-worker have developed svg bubble plots with gis underlays in R and I'm wondering about the possibilities of a more generic svg graphic driver. Thanks! building packages on windows
Has anyone had success building a package on a windows machine? I am trying the following command with no luck (perhaps my flags are incorrect?). At this point I am stuck. Any help greatly appreciated. Niels Waller (BTW - I have no idea why it cannot find sh.exe since I have it is a directory that is specified in a path statement) H:\R\bin>rcmd build --binary --use-zip h:\taxon2 * checking

RODBC, Apache, Linux
This may be as much of a Linux Newbie question as an RODBC question. I've managed to get iODBC working on my RedHat 7.2 system. I can load the library and run it as root. However, I would like to be able to run it via Perl and Apache over the web. I'm not sure what I need to change in order to let "nobody" (the user running the scripts off of Apache) load the library. I can

Rdbi package and PgSQL
I can use the Rdbi package to connect to a PostGreSQL server fine but when I use the dbDisconnect(), I get a segmentation error and it throws me out of R. I'm using RH7.2, R1.4.1, Rdbi 0.1-2, and Rdbi.PgSQL 0.1-2. Anyone else seen anything like this and have an possible answer? P-4
I just got a new machine with a Intel 1.3 P4 chip in it. I am aware that many (most) software companies have not optimized their code specifically for the chip. Furthermore, I have found that this machine is even slower, on many apps, than a 8xx P3 we have here. I enjoy using R and was wondering if there are any plans to create a version that accommodates this chip.

RODBC finding dsn information using OpenLink iODBC drivers
I'm using RODBC to connect to a MS SQL server. I've been able to get it to work without much of a hitch in windows. However, I'm using OpenLink's iODBC drivers on the Linux side and I'm not sure how RODBC is able to find information about the dsn's (which is in the odbc.ini file?). I've tested the connection with the test program included by OpenLink and

trouble running pixmap examples
I am having trouble running the 'read.pnm' examples in this package. Can anyone tell me what is wrong? I am using the current package and running Redhat 7.2 (intel). The other examples seem fine but I can't seem to pull in files.
