WINS browse sync!
Hello!
I have the two networks a.a.a.a and b.b.b.b
Both on them I have domain logon server & WINS serwer
How to setup than in network neightbourhood i can see form network a.a.a.a
network b.b.b.b and vice versa?
(a.a.a.a it is different domain than b.b.b.b)
I try the option remote browse sync - it works partially - in network
neightbourhood i see the domain b.b.b (from net a.a.a) but when i try to
get in i have error - the b.b.b can not fo...

Using DDNS as a backend for WINS?
Hi,
We've just added a dynamic subdomain on our DNS servers for W2K's
Active Directory stuff.
While I can't comment on the AD stuff, the DDNS (on BIND 8) seems to
work nicely (so far - fingers crossed!) and replicates well between
our DNS servers.
Has anyone done any work on turning WINS lookups (of all record types)
into DNS lookups, and WINS [de]registrations into DNS updates?

OK, call me brain dead...
I solved this problem which really was not a problem with Samba at all.
The problem was my /etc/hosts file. I had set the file up with the correct
IP addresses originally, but a few months back, before switching to
security=domain, I had changed a
lot of the client machine's ip addresses. I thought that since the NT
machine was functioning as the DC and the WINS

I am using samba 2.0.7 with redhat linux 7.1.
My linux machine name is Vanlin1 and I am trying to connect it to windows
network.
I can ping my linux machine from windows and also
I can telnet and ftp my linux machine from windows machine
But when i ouble click the linux machine in network neightbourhood I
couldn`t
connect it to linux machine and it says
" The credentials supplied conflict with the existing credentials "
When I type \\vanlin1 on window explorer it
opens a window asking for
username and password and when i give the correct username and password it
tells

But When i click on network neighbourhood it says public folder not
accessible.
I want to make a public folder that doesnot need any username and password
to get into.
Secondly, for creating the user accounts to linux machine i used useradd
username but
in network neightbourhood on clicking it opens with the
invalid username and password message box.
If anyone has got a wonder ideas please suggest.
