Samba Weird One
...4. The rest of our network is Windows 95/NT 4.0 with our domain called 'SABINMETAL'. One of the NT workstations (named HELM with a user called steve) was working, but now it is doing the following: if steve logs onto the SABINMETAL domain, he cannot get to the Unix server through network neighboorhood. if steve logs onto the HELM domain, he can get to the Unix server, but he can't map his home directory. if I log onto the same machine onto the SABINMETAL domain, I can get to the Unix server. if steve logs onto the SABINMETAL domain on a different machine, he can get to the Unix server. HELP with browsing and popups (Cont: Get popups)
I've got plenty of messages about "message command". Please don't talk me about "message command". I have "message command" in my smb.conf. It seems to be another problem: I can browse all groups in local network but anyone can't find me in "Network neighboorhood" in Widows 9x. I can receive popups only from boxes with samba (Linux boxes) and can't receive any personal or group popups from Windoze boxes. If using "confirmation delivery" option Popup program in windows can't confirm delivery of message to my box . Here is my smb.conf:...

Problems setting up Samba (nmbd) as multi-subnet router
...rkgroups for different interfaces?? One server must run with NetBEUI - is this bad? Can i get info from the Window-machines, why they don't want to do things? (Like finding PDC's??) I already made a configuration, where i can access all machines, but i cannot browse thru the "network neighboorhood" - path not found is the message i always get... - and if i change things, than i can browse thru the "network neighboorhood" but then it says "cannot find PDC" ... ;( Thanx for any help Ciao Joe_D --- EPCNet GmbH ISP & Web Design Bleichstrasse 24 89077 Ulm Tel. 0...

Two samba's not playing together
...repared this mail, I remarked that in smb.conf I somehow deleted the netbios-name of the new PDC (I used a modified copy of it to vampire the old PDC). Could this be the reason why access was refused ? What I don't understand is that with that same smb.conf I could see the PDC in the Windows neighboorhood, and I could select shares and use them. And I could accesss it using user-manager and server-manager. For the configuration files go to : http://users.edpnet.be/brouwerij/samba/ smb.conf-PDC is what was in use for the new PDC. smb.conf-FileServer is what is in use for the fileserver. First I trie...

samba interferes with NT server
I have an NT4 server as PDC for a domain: WG. Domain members (on 3 subnets) can either log into the domain, or at least access shares from the network neighboorhood if they don't want to log on. When I boot a samba server as a workgroup member (I don't log it into the domain) everything runs fine for about 24 hours; domain or WG members can access shares on any machine including the samba server. After 24 hrs subnets start dropping off and clients on...

Win2k bringing down SMB
...nd poped win2k on it, but as soon as I try to access the network, it takes over. It can access the samba server fine, but none of the 98/NT machines can see anything. Tried originally with 2.0.7-pre4, then i installed 2.0.7 final and experianced the same problem. Win2k has but to touch the network neighboorhood to wreck havok. If I leave it at the list of computers on the network, and don't even click on any of them, it has already taken over by that point. log.smb shows nothing, heres the relevant cut of log.nmb: [2000/05/02 17:53:00, 0] nmbd/nmbd_nameregister.c:register_name_response(111) regist...

Ugh, Does Interfaces not work?
...ended up installing samba, and told it only to talk to my office network. Well, it managed to pick up the browser list..... and it got ahold of a local browser role as soon as it came up because I have a second DMZ on it, one thing led to another, and Now the campus browser list appears in network neighboorhood at the main office, and three other employee's houses..... I had firewalled off port 137-139 a very long time ago, so I find it hard to beleave it, but I guess samba got the browse list through broadcasts. Any advice that any of you all can give me regarding cleaning up this mess and getting...

spatial correlation test
hello, I want to do a test for spatial correlation. I tried it with geary.test() but I don't understand the required input. x= a numeric vector the same length as the neighbours list in listw (my sampled data, I assume) listw= a listw object created for example by nb2listw (well when I check nb2listw() I get to "neighbours - an object of class nb" - but I couldn't figure

Hello, I''d like to try out HTB for traffic shaping. I have a test machine with Redhat 7.2 (kernel 2.4.10), I''ve downloaded kernel 2.4.17, applied the patch from http://luxik.cdi.cz/~devik/qos/htb/, recompiled the kernel (checked the option to use HTB in make menuconfig), and rebooted with the new kernel. When I try to add some rules with HTB (f.i. tc qdisc add dev eth0 root

No subject
.... Of cource, searching from Windows for a specific computer name is successfull, as all the clients are correctly registering to WINS. The final question that i need an answer for, is the following: Is it possible to rectify this situation (make all workgroups visible in all clients in Network Neighboorhood) without enabling broadcasts between the VLANs ? And how ? My understanding so far is that this is not possible without major changes in Samba code. Am i right ? The only other answer that i could think of is 42.
